now the plans are to sensibly modify the car to keep it practical for the wife and baby so no noisy exhaust systems etc but this still shouldnt stop me improving on what i feel is a great all round engine (my bro has owned 2 20v turbo cars) so i do know quite a bit on the tuning side of these things but by no means am i an expert.

i have already purchased a cai kit from fellow briskoda member octycal and as long as it arrives this week i will get it fitted this sunday before i give the car a good detail (oh yes thats another hobby of mine).
also i have negotiated a deal for a forge intercooler which fits exactly the same as oe but has larger core etc etc.
i am then looking to fit an uprated turbo intake pipe and other related hoses and possibly a decat downpipe onto the existing oe exhaust system, once done a stage 1 remap at either psi tuning or more bhp will be carried out to keep me happy for now, but seriously watch this space in the coming months as im sure ill have some interesting updates for you all

oh bloody hell thats typical fella we will defo catch up sometime, it would be good if we sorted a torquecars forum rolling road day/meet

defo fella i would have no probs helping to organise it as you may know iv held many days in the past and had 2 magazine featured :)

n75 and lower recirc valve hose arrived yesterday :)

i have also ordered a silicone turbo outlet pipe from the same company

iv made an offer on an sfs oversized tip should here back from them today if its accepted then i think it makes sense to fit this the same time as the turbo outlet pipe

today iv decided to drop the wife off at work so i can have the car and give it a good clean going to be using cg blacklight and poorboys nattys blue wax to top it off i will of course post a few pics after

well my offer got accepted on the sfs oversized tip
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351167966344?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

even though it states this one doesnt fit the vrs it is made for engine codes auq and its the same part number as iv read on briskoda forum to get AH15/A

below is a comparison picture of the oe tip and a creation tip please note the creation tip is not an oversized one either so the difference will be even greater :)

right guys as always plans dont always work out, i wasnt able to have yesterday off work so im instead off next weds :) this will actually allow us to fit the turbo outlet hose at same time as the others, sfs oversized tip still not arrived yet but am in no hurry for that tbh.

taking the car for a nice little drive to donington park tomorrow for the bttc :) ill only be driving one way as ill be sampling many beers whilst there haha

Fitting oversized sfs tip along with silicone turbo outlet hose n75/dv hoses and breather hoses today.
Next up will be pancake hose revises oe lower boost hose and intercooler to tb hose.
Follwed by 3" decat downpipe and remap not a bad little plan

nothing at all to report on the car front the above mentioned hoses were fitted, i purchased a silicone pancake hose and will be fitting that next weds.

still to purchase the decat downpipe and revised lower boost hose hopefully will get them next month as were off to the lakes this coming weekend for a little break and have quite a few things to get bought for the new house

Hi everyone been a hectic last few weeks for me and the wife.

Anyway onto the car im still yet to purchase a revises lower boost hose and decat downpipe but rest assured this will be done in good time.
I have yesterday bought a set of uniroyal rainsport 3 tyres for the car and these will be fitted next saturday morning.

The car has developed a sort of sqeaky/rattly noise coming from the front end at low speed/revs we were thinking maybe worn bushes dogbone etc but when i finally got to drive the car i dipped the clutch whilst the noise was there and the noise intanstly stopped. So im not sure if it needs a new clutch or flywheel? Any help on this much appreciated.

My plan is to sort whatever the above problem is but regardless i have decided to refresh the front end bushes on the car for powerflex ones these will be dogbone front and rear, front wishbone and top mounts. The bushes on our car could have very possibly done 147k so id say are pretty worn.
I am also going to be changing the springs and dampers for h&r 20mm springs and koni dampers this matched to the new rubber and new bushes should make the car a little better on the handling front.

Sounds good to me mate! Might it be the release bearing?

Car is booked in with my mate at gt motorsport to get the clutch and flywheel fitted for tues 30th june i will fit the dogbone bushes myself when i get a but of spare time one weekend.

Full set of rainsport 3s being fitted tomorrow morning absolutely love these tyres cant stress how good they are

Got quite a boost leak on the motor atm not sure where its coming from but i have read the lower boost hose was a common fault and as far as i can see or find out it has never been replaced for the later revised hose. I have purchased a vgc second hand revised hose and will get it fitted asap. Hopefully this will resolve the issue if not then it will be a case of finding and fixing the leak.

The rainsport 3 tyres have made such a big diiference to the car money really well spent i also purchased an audi tt front upper strut brace and that will go on tuesday along with the new flywheel and clutch.

Next month we are gong to replace the rear springs and shocks and top mounts and the following month the same for the front suspension keeping it all oe as i want to keep thr car as practical and comfy as possible im sure a suspension refresh along with new bushes combined with the strut brace should keep things nice and tight etc.

Sorry for the delay in updates guys

I serviced the 007p valve with new parts etc so all good there now

Right onto the boost leak i got to drive the car and boost is absolutely peeing out so i have ordered the revised lower boost hose and i had a dig around under the bay and low and behold i find one of the aftermarket creation boost hoses that was fitted by gt motorsport is not fitted correctly and in fact the jubilee clip was not even attached to the end that meets the charge pipe.
I had a go of getting it back on straight and tightening the clip back up but the clip just keeps slipping off the hose. At this point my bloody glass back decided to kick in and i had to leave it as it was.
Anyway i have the car rebooked in with a skoda specialist in stoke named tqc they are going to fit the new clutch and flywheel along with sort the upper 90deg boost hose and fit the lower revised hose at same time fingers crossed this will solve the boost issue

Next month i will be ordering the audi tt lower front strut brace to fit along with the upper brace and uprated dogbone mount.

I have also priced up replacing the suspension with oe items and it comes to £421 so iv seen a full kit by koni sr-t that lowers 20mm all round that comes in at £358 that looks as if it will be the choice when the time comes to carry out the job.

Really hope so although there is a slight change i have managed to source a samco hose that replaces the lower boost hose so i have ordered one of them.

I have bought a full set of boost hoses for the Mini from Forge. Really, really robust and well made. Bloody difficult to fit as they are very tight and almost no flex.

It turns out that the creation boost hose just was not a good fit at all and no matter what we did it would just pop off even when using jcs high grip clips, so we refitted the oe boost hose and hey presto fits perfect and no more boost leak from that area.
I did think it was strange that gt motorsport would not of fitted something properly as they have always been good for me.
We still have a boost leak and i know exactly where its coming from its the problematic lower boost hose that joins to the bottom of the charge pipe, after doing a bit of research i was told to fit an agu charge pipe and hose as these are fitted with clips instead of push fit so will not blow off so easy. These are on order and will be with me next week.
Whilst we were at it we solved another one of the annoying noise issues coming from the rear which turned out to be worn brake pads on passenger side so of course replaced both sides.

Update for anyone interested

Agu charge pipe and silicone agu pancake hose arrived and was planning on fitting it this friday, but whilst at work today i got a call from the wife saying the engine light had come on and car had lost power etc.
so told her to take it to ian at tqc who got the car in for us and it was diagnosed to have coil number 3 down so a new coil ordered and fitted along with the agu charge pipe and hose, cant report back on it yet as not picking the car up until tomorrow.

Just to add the coils were all different makes so i have decided to replace the other 3 with good quality matching ones either later this month or next month.

Very possibly as they were known to be a common fault with the 20v turbo although vw/audi/skoda and seat did do a recall to replace them foc, cant see anything in the extensive paperwork for this car being recalled though.

Onto the boost leak we have finally fixed it the fitting of the agu charge pipe and hose gives us boost again, i also decided to give the throttle bodie a clean which was defo in need of doing.

Well being a decorator sometimes has its perks, got speaking to ian at tqc last night and they need there reception and hallway area repainting somi struck a deal with him which is as follows.
He supplies and fits 3" decat downpipe and then remaps the car which he agreed to so i get the work on my car done and not costs me a penny and he gets his place spruced up win win i say.

Well today is the day the car will be getting the remap and downpipe done so really looking forward to how it turns out of course ill report back with how it is etc.

I only have 3 doors left to varnish so iv said id have no probs getting the upper and lower braces fitted if hes ok with that.

alright everyone very early update as were off to do a car boot this morning and have loads to do after (who says sunday is the day of rest).

just thought id let you know that the car is now equipped with the decat downpipe and has been mapped at tqc via dna tuning :) all i can say is wow what a difference it has made and to me feels like the car the vrs should of been from factory very impressed with the map.
one thing it did was give us an instant missfire which was cured by checking and retorquing of the plugs and replacing coil no 4.
it has also highlighted the slight hesitation at around 4k obviously with running added boost its more noticeable now than when standard so were going to get it on vagcom this tuesday night to see whats what instead of replacing a load of things to guesstimate as such.

my personal things i think it could be are n75, maf or worn actuator car has done 150k for reference.

got a few pics for you all

waiting outside tqc

Very nice!

Mine was the same on the first map @280+lbft there was a big dip at 4k and so they took it out and did logs and all the requested and actual were right!

So they tinkered around with the map went on the rr again this time achieved 270+llbft and the dip at 4k was less but they were still not happy so they took it out again to do logs and when they looked everything was still as it should be.

So he tinkered with the map again this time achieved 260 lbft and the dip was still there at 4k but alot less than the first map alot nicer curve

I was happy but he wasn't!
And he had a look at my wheels noticed the tyres were the standard p6000's he said out of curiosity he wanted to try his wheels of his mk2 golf track car. So he did and the car achieved 265 lbft and the dip was pretty much none existent. So he came to the conclusion that the car is starting to reach the peak torque and the tyres reach the limit of grip therefore the dip at 4k.

Sorry for the essay I'm just sharing my experience and it wasn't down to anything faulty just grip in the end

You've put a lot of time and effort into this and the reward will surely pay off. I bet this is fantastic to drive and far away from the original car you first bought.

Keep up the good work.

hi matey many thanks for your input and it is something that we can look at if we cant see anything too obvious although i do have rainsport 3s fitted and they are super grippy really transformed the car from what was fitted previously.
we are going to get it on vagcom this tuesday evening and see what if anything it shows could even be a worn fuel pump or fpr as like i say the dip used to be there even when standard.

You've put a lot of time and effort into this and the reward will surely pay off. I bet this is fantastic to drive and far away from the original car you first bought.

cheers wayne and your not wrong they feel so restricted from standard its such a shame they were not fitted with the bam 225 engine out the box but i would think they didnt want to as they were trying to sell the tt and cupra r

tonight i will be heading across to ian a tqc to get the car on vagcom to see what is causing the hesitance at 4k when on boost, like i say the problem was there when standard but not as noticeable of course it could be numerous things and we would be foolish just to keep guessing, hopefully this will show us what it is and we can sort it.

we are still to fit the front upper and lower braces and also were doing the oil pick up and of course oil/filter change but it is being done this week in the evening, but im stuggling a bit atm as my good old glass back is giving me hell

had a bit of a delay in taking the car to tqc due to my back getting worse on tuesday, but its feeling a bit better now so i will be going tonight

i have also finally got around to purchasing the uprated poly dogbone mount and a pair of the newer style badges for the front grille and boot along with a set of vrs emblem centre caps which i think will look rather cool.

link of the vrs centre caps

so today we finally got around to fitting the audi tt upper and lower front braces, i can honestly say to anyone who owns a vrs to do these mods as for me its what they should of come with as standard hugely improved very impressed.

we also fitted a new oil pick up pipe and of course new oil and filter so thats peace of mind for me now.
