now the plans are to sensibly modify the car to keep it practical for the wife and baby so no noisy exhaust systems etc but this still shouldnt stop me improving on what i feel is a great all round engine (my bro has owned 2 20v turbo cars) so i do know quite a bit on the tuning side of these things but by no means am i an expert.

i have already purchased a cai kit from fellow briskoda member octycal and as long as it arrives this week i will get it fitted this sunday before i give the car a good detail (oh yes thats another hobby of mine).
also i have negotiated a deal for a forge intercooler which fits exactly the same as oe but has larger core etc etc.
i am then looking to fit an uprated turbo intake pipe and other related hoses and possibly a decat downpipe onto the existing oe exhaust system, once done a stage 1 remap at either psi tuning or more bhp will be carried out to keep me happy for now, but seriously watch this space in the coming months as im sure ill have some interesting updates for you all

Nice. How has the handling been improved, what have you noticed over standard?

ah yes it would be good if i described with a bit more detail.

right here goes it has certainly reduced the flex on initial turn in and in mid corner, the effect it has had id say is similar to fitting a set of lowering springs but obviously without the harshness.

now these motors dont come with a rear arb as standard and the reports from people that have fitted one is that its the absolute best mod to do for the handling of a vrs so that will be next in line for the suspension side of things.

so iv purchased this universal stainless back box from 2fast2cool on ebay, it will take a little bit of custom fitting to make it work but its nothing major and im sure we can get it fitted bang on.

i think it will really suit the cut out and look oe+ as such :)

sorry for the lack of updates but there really hasnt been anything worth mentioning until now :)

I have purchased a second hand carbonio cai kit for the car these were widely regarded as one of the best aftermarket induction kits for the 20vt engine.
fingers crossed it will arrive before sunday as i will get it fitted that day and report back with how i find it.

I fitted the vrs centre caps i purchased off ebay and they really suit the car will certainly look better once i get the wheels done in anthracite and fit the black wheel nut covers.

still not had the backbox fitted yet (hopefully next month) i have also purchased a pair of the new style skoda badges for the front and rear of the car and also the new style vrs badges for front grille and boot which i will be fitting this weekend :)

car had a full detail today am knackered now haha

you cant polish a turd but you can certainly have a go :)

new style rear skoda badge with the old octavia and vrs badges removed which i actually quite like and think its going to stay this way.

front end looks so much better with the new style skoda and vrs badge fitted

just goes to show how deceiving pictures are as honestly the paintwork is shot to hell, needs a full respray full of stonechips/scratches etc, but thanks put it this way it looks 100% better than this morning

well todays plan is to give the car a wash and another mini detail with the help of my mate whos quite a bufty :) i always appreciate a hand as cleaning cars seriously starts my back off :( .

were off to a local car show tomorrow called down n out its a vw based show so my car is more than welcome there im told they are expecting around 135 vehicles and there is also a beer festival on at the venue ;)

only problem with that last bit is im doing the go sober for october fundraiser which im sure is a charity that has affected all of us at some point. below is a link to my profile if any of you fine people would like to sponsor me.

right then everyone i have an update that i think will interest you all, after a bit of long thought and careful consideration it has been decided to go onto the next level with the car :)

this should see us hit figures of 300+bhp and 300+ lb/ft so will totally transform the car from a relatively pokey motor into something that is much more like it for me.

these bits will have to be purchased over the coming months and i have already actually struck deals for the lcr injectors, k03s crack free manifold to send for porting and an 80mm maf housing.

i think the plan will be to next purchase the sytec fuel pump (as mine is certainly worn now) send the k03s manifold off to badger5 for porting and purchase wellycooler set up then once in my possesion get this lot fitted as it wont do any harm and it will be in place ready for when the big bits come into play.

following this i think the exhaust system and clutch/flywheel set up would be next on the list to purchase/get fitted, then this would essentially leave the turbo and rods which wouldnt be a problem as all the supporting mods would already be in place, so get them into place take it steady for a bit then get it to bill at badger5 for mapping.

this is the plan anyway :)

bbt k300 turbo £775
leon cupra R injectors £60
ported k03s manifold £70
sytec fuel pump £72
vr6 clutch/g60 flywheel £200
fmic "wellycooler"/map adaptor £225
forged rods £480
custom 3" exhaust system matched upto current 3" decat downpipe £390
mapping £390

Oh, well look at that shopping list!!! Someone is going to have a nice Christmas |B

it does seem quite a list, looks like alot of overtime and foreigners will be done over the next few months for sure. oh and of course see if santa thinks iv been good :)

Ooh slippery slope now. I can remember when I thought my 944 would have enough power at 300hp. It wasn't enough

your not wrong iv been down this road many times before, is there ever such a thing as enough power ?? maybe if i had a hennesey venom gt that might just do it ;)

thanks alot for that andy its really appreciated and yeah i do agree building something is very satisfying for sure |B

its going to be good to see it evolve over the next few months

bit of a boring update the car has its m.o.t on friday 23rd october im quitely confident that it will pass no bother at all but with it having 152k on it it can be expected for some wear and tear.

another thing i forgot to add to my little list above was fk coilovers, ill only be dropping the car no more than 30mm so it keeps it as practical as possible but give it a more planted look and a bit tighter handling wise :)

I've got to admit I fell for the coilover and yes they we're cheap ones!
I dropped my car 30mm
And that is exactly what I wanted!
The skoda may be different to my Leon!?
But if it isn't coilovers maybe overkill?
A good 30mm drop is plenty,

im pretty sure the rear spring rate is different on the vrs, unfortunately nobody makes 30mm lowering kit for the octavia (you can get 20mm) but fk do there coilover kit at £195 and i can get the drop i want with that :) , i also read that alot of people run these coilovers with very positive feedback plus side is it refreshes the suspension as its surely tired now after all these miles

I think my first lowering of the car in the early days was done by the changing of the springs only. Now I know a little bit more about car suspensions I think this should always be done by using coilovers.

well guys the modding for the 300+ project is starting earlier than expected, the car is going in next month for a custom 3" bore exhaust system :) this will join up to my existing 3" decat downpipe. im not going for anything loud and boomy or intrusive just something so i know its there with a nice note to it.

i will try my best to get a few pics of the system for anyone interested

Sounds great mate! Hopefully after christmas I'll have saved enough for a new turbo plus a Manic remap to stage 3! 260bhp here I come!

cheers fella :)

fantastic mate should pick its heels up with that power for sure. there is a cooper s around by me that sounds brilliant and goes well to match

well things are moving a bit quicker than expected my exhuast builder gave me a call yesterday afternoon to tell me he had a cancellation on saturday 24th october so my car will be going to him then :) he has explained with it being a 3" system it will be louder than a 2.5" but will d whats possible to silence it to something suitable.

its now the day of the cars M.O.T hopefully it should go through without anything major, i do know it could do with a track rod end on passenger side though.

tomorrow i have got to be up at silver systems for 9am to get my custom 3" bore exhaust system built and fitted to the car, really looking forward to this :)

cheers fella i have today purchased a michi catch can so this will be the next thing to be installed over winter along with a breather/evap delete clean up.

well the day is here to get my 3" bore exhaust system made and fitted by Silver Systems going for a 2 box system as been there and done it with loud droning exhausts. will add pics and hopefully a vid or 2 later :)

Its done and all i can say is its perfect nice burble to it no drone and just the right noise when the throttle is open. Pics and vids to follow :)

well looks like ill be fitting another piece of the 300+bhp puzzle sooner than expected, clutch is slipping on the car now, so vr6 clutch/g60 solid flywheel will be purchased next month :)

also took a cheeky pic whilst up at the petrol station first thing this morning, no vid yet sorry

Ah yes, I remember you saying something about these a while ago now. They look very similar to a set of Goodyear Eagle something or another I had on the beast once, but that diagonal pattern went right across the tyre. Will tell you something pretty sad now Andy :( I use to love driving in the rain and parking up in a dry spot just to see the tread pattern on the ground

I know what your thinking Andy

Or maybe

But it's ok, my shoulders are broad and I can take the mickey taking, in the meantime I'll get me coat.

haha i dont think thats sad at all mate we all have certain habits with our cars etc i reckon.

on the tyres the old rainsport 2 design had the diagonal pattern all the way across much like the hugely overrated ditch finders toyo proxes

wheels are something i want to change next year along with lowering the car, these are the wheels iv picked :)

think they look really good and how that vrs is sitting on the 2nd pic is how i want mine to go
