Post up any facts or interesting times for the Nurburgring track.

On 19 August 09 the Radical SR8LM smashed the production car ring record at 6min 48 Seconds!

Sabine Shmitz Took a Ford Transit round the ring on 10 July 2005 and got a time of 10min 8 seconds - just goes to show it's down to the driver more than the car.

What do you make of these and what other ring facts do you know?

Re: Nurburgrung Facts

Fact; Within ten minutes of my arrival @ the 'Ring' about three years ago, a biker was decapitated.
Fact; It had nothing to do with me or my arrival.

Re: Nurburgrung Facts

I see we're all taking this seriously then:lol: OH Well we try!

Didn't the ring layout change recently?

Re: Nurburgrung Facts

The Nurburgring used to consist of two tracks joined together. The 'Nordschleife' (North Loop) and the 'Sudschleife' (South Loop).

Now folks just race on the northern bit. (I think)

Re: Nurburgrung Facts

It's highest point is 620 meters above sea level & lowest is 320 meters.
A Dodge Viper ACR (American Club Racer) recently lapped the Ring in 7:22 spanking the Nissan GTR record of 7:26.
It has 172 corners.
People like to write on the road.
It has a Roller Coaster called Ring Racer which has a top speed of 130 (ish) mph.
My mum has never been,
nor have I...
My Dad has though.
Sometimes it's wet...
sometimes it's dry.
The Ring has the coolest fire engine ever.
