Why oh why do people get number plates that match their cars model? (ITS WRITTEN ON THE CAR STUPID!)

I saw a GTO with X123 GTO M5 123 on an M5 and TVR 123X on a fiat chinquetento (Maybee the last one was luck of the draw?)

Am I missing something shall I go out and buy A3 4UDI ? Or why don't I get W47 NNE and just remind myself of my name when I see the car!

I quite like private plates if they're witty. I cannot stand it when the digits get moved about and yellow and black screw heads are used in the wrong places.

THe best I've seen was T13 VOM on a Porsche 911 Turbo.

HDI T13 VOM - "MOVE IT" I like - I took me a while and I had to hold up a mirror! That is a clever one.

im totally against your view of no. plates

maybe its jus a teenage thing?

but i dont want every1 to know my honda civic is 14 yrs old

i havent actually managed to buy a personalized no. plate yet due to them being so expensive but as soon as i have the money i am going to do so

especially when itll be reversed in the rear view mirror. wonder if its available ??

TITAN dont think its a teenage thing. it more personal. me i never minded that my prelude was 17 year old. and those who know their cars are able to give a rough age to it anyway. plus you cant put a newer plate on a older car.

If you don't want everyone to know you drive a car that is 14 years old...then why drive that car?

I'm 20 and I think personalised number plates look tacky unless they are clever...even still I wouldn't have one. I'm proud that my car was born in 1999...the 'V' on my plate shows that and I have no intentions of removing it.

I hate those ones that are like SDV 1275 the cheapest £69 or however much it is, nastiest number plates that you can buy. YUCK:mad:.

My mates van he was given by the company for work ends in NOB, how unlucky is that! But i suppose free insurance , tax, mot and deisel makes up for it, or does it?? lol.

hahahahahahaha that's brilliant!

think its spite from his company?

i dnt think anything can make up for that

No theres a few in minehead, and I've seen others like it, anything to cover up the real age of the car i think lol.

It would have to be Minehead. Take a 2004 car and then fit a 1994 plate. Hayley, when you have cause to do so, do you drive up/down Porlock Hill or use the toll road?

I actually live on porlock hill, so I drive up the first not so steep bit everyday, and usually go up the full hill when I go woolacombe, toll road is ok, if you really do like the scenic route, but its a b**** in the summer full of tourists who wont reverse. I prefer the hill tbh.

Oh I dont think the company van was ins spite but made him think twice about acceptin the company veichle lol.

Yep, I like the real hill, too. It's fun surging to over 80mph between the bendy bits. Much more fun than the toll road which is gay and designed for grockels who can't 'f.....' drive.

Wny do they insist on trying to drag a bloody caravan uphill with a knackered Ford Escort?

oh yesh I was walking up the toll road one day wit the dog, 6 caravans going up in convoy bout 10mph I was walking faster than them (and I walk slow lol), they overtake me, 10 mins later I catch up and the one at the front had broken down HAHAHAHAHA, what a scene. cars, angry motorists, 6 caravans blah blah blah, funny as anything. Kind of avoided driving it after that, unless searching for the dog.

Anyway just thought I'd share that story with everyone,.

Yeah I love driving up the hill, can't say I've 80mph erm more like 30 lol. The whole drive from the hill to Lynmouth is really nice.

was that not last week when the caravanners joined the fuel protest convoys ? bloody pain in the rear. they should only be aloud on the roads between 0100 and 0300 on a wednesday ;)

No it was last summer, think it was the funniest car scene I've seen in my life. Would have took pictures but too busy laughing.

Lynmouth is a pretty little place. Perhaps we could all get together and tip the offending caravans off the side. Why do people try and tow heavy trailers with cars that clearly aren't up to the job? Thus totally buggering up the south-west parts of the UK?

Yeah that would be really good a small meet down here.
I dunno why they do it, most of them come unstuck at one point or another, usually people who dont expect it to be that steep, or just dont think or plan before going on a journey.
I'd never do it,unless I had a suitable car or 4x4.
Maybe richard attenborough will do a documentary on it? Or that other wildlife bloke.
Think I'm going to email him now.

I have to admit i have 2 personal plates p2gds and p22gds,

The 3 is probably a B with two rivets inserted - a bit naughty!

We'll let business owners off with personalised plates as it looks professional.

I don't like it when people mess with the spacing (not supposed to do this) and use the yellow/black screw heads to alter the appearance (not supposed to do this either).

Here's another really clever one that belonged on a Mercedes Sprinter van owned by a company that specialised in large scale UPS systems:
