The new MOT rules are much tougher for diesel owners. A DPF filter that looks tampered with can be a fail unless you can prove it was fixed/repaired or replaced to the MOT tester!

Diesels with a DPF must now pass a clear smoke test.

Brake disc wear is also analysed and could cause a fail - I thought this was included anyway but it turns out it was just a brake functionality test.

I still think the MOT rules could be tougher and more checks can be made.

I panicked when I was reading about the tougher emission tests.... Then saw it was diesel only and relaxed a little.

Poor diesel owners :(

Told you it was coming. Gonna be a lot of unhappy diesel owners around when their car fails the new test. I wonder how many owners don't even know their dpf has been removed because they bought the car and previous owner didn't pass on that piece of info ?-/
