ok 1st up your 17 in the eyes of insurance companies that makes you the same as the law look at an over eager child lover.

to be honest £3k isnt too bad for a cavi. that is for you being 17 with 0 NCB.
what size is it ? 1.8 or 2.0
best bet i would think is to look at what it would cost if your mother owned the car and added you as a named driver. until ether you get some NCB ( depending on insurance company ) or at least some driving experience, youll notice a drop after youve been driving for a year even if you dont have any NCB ( as long as you dont crash )

did you try bell they were good for me when i 1st started insuring my car

F******* hell mate! £2999!!! Have you tried Adrian Flux (car club discount)? Endsleigh (student discount)?

I have to say that is very ambitious! Good luck!

Good on you - that's the spirit! A real car enthusiast at all costs.

Garage/Alarm and limited mileage should bring the premium down.

the advice i would give would be to get yor pass plus, which you have, and adrian flux or endsleigh, they are the two that gave me the best quotes.

also saying you keep your car in a locked garage etc helps

i dont know about english insurance companys,
but over here if you want cheap insurance, you go with GOAR

GET OUT AND RUN ha ha ha ha, just a joke mate
sorry i cant help you due to the first line in this post

best of luck anyhow mate

Im with Adrian Flux, I'm 18 just recently passed my test, They were the cheapest I could find. With passplus it knocked it down my about 20%. That 20% is a huge discount if your quoted alot.

yeah pass plus is good wished i had done it.
couple of insurance companies wouldnt insure the wife as soon as she said about it, however the prudential gave her 25% same as 1 years NCB

yeah. insurance companies dont like new drivers with shiny cars. costs more when you get into an accicdent and most people get into the most accicdents in thier first few years of driving. i know here in that states it isn't uncommon for new drivers to ride on thier parents insurance for the first year or two. if you go that way, have your parents list themselves as the primary and you as an alternate driver and do your best to keep the infractions down. by them being listed as the primary some companies will offer a lower rate not all though. wheni first started driving i tried the broker companies, the ones that sell policies for 5 or 6 companies. sometimes you can find a deal with them. im not sure how the european insurance companies run but if they are like the states, you can choose your deductable and coverage limits. the higher the deductable the less you pay, only thing with that is they take the deductable out first. so if you have a $5000 deductable and you do $4800 in damage. It all comes out of your pocket, so make sure you are comfortable with it. also anything over your limits you pay as well.

try doing your advanced test not the pass plus it will almost half the policy cost and you can keep the little certificate for a couple of years. and it wont really cost that much and its hell of a gigle.

Know this is an old thread but still, the cheapest people I found on my 2.0 turbo veccy was Quinn at 17 and a learner and 17 passed - 18 was Bell,

My first was £1260 (my policy) with a older female driver named,

Now I get with bell (tpft £250 excess my policy 1yr NCB)

Mods
Alloys not standard
Exhaust all the way to the manifold

and Open drive/europe driving

For £890 :D Yum

that sounds way tooo cheap...

Otherwise, why would I be paying £1500 a year insurance on a 1.2 Clio on my dad's insurance with 10 years NCB?

Area code must be, mines pretty low crime and Ive now got 2 named female drivers lowered the cost by £500 ish in total, the mods cost £89 declared extra.

Oh and its a diesel, bell are a sub admiral company and are made for young drivers or thats what they say I was getting quotes on go compare and others of £1300 minmum, quinn said my renewal was going to be £1060 but shopping around still is worth it.

This isnt turf honest just trying to help and looking for some nice mods for the veccy since they dont cost me that much.

Mine is in the low crime part of the UK too, and I will have to try getting some females on mine then :D

They got any NCB's for you?

I will have to check Bell :)

Yup ive got 1year NCB and the females have there NCB's declared on it as well, loving the open drive though as well.

Only had my licence 5 months , but was insured as a learner early for a while just to rack up that cheap NCB year.

IMO Elephant are quite good
Me - 22, 0 NCB, 6 points, crim conviction, rough area
car - Mk2 Astra GTE 16V, Induction mods, fast road cams,wiseco pistons,port
/polished head,Re mapped ECU,full stainless, lowered, alloys, ICE, tints etc etc etc

ALWAYS add your mum/dad/both to your policy, i saved £500 putting my mother on(15yrs NC), and another £450 puttin my dad (10 years) on too!

Got any pics? I love Astra Gte's. I had 1 a while ago an that ate driveshafts for breakfast. It had so much torque. I do like vauxhall 2litre engine a good one pulls really well....My cousins got a Nove Gsi thats been stood on his yard for about 7 years. It's got a cheeky 2litre 16v under the bonnet but he just won't part with it. He drive a new shape Civic type-r now. I keep trying to get it off him but he won't have none of it...

(no such thing as a 2.0 v6 cav, is 2.5 or 2.0 4 cyl?)

2999 int bad at all, thats 700 more than i got quoted on my first corsa sxi on a 51, and that was only a 1.2!!! robbing bastards

I'd do as Pgarner says, check on either a womans specialist insurance, or directline (to get your own no claims) and see how much it is there, i got the 1.2 from 2200 to 700 just by putting it in my sisters name and me been a named driver - sorted :D

I tried the "Young drivers insurance" they're all robbing sods too, infact alot of them i checked we're actually more expensive than the big companies =[

but not everyone will get quoted the same o_O

I hate insurance ¬.¬
