Hi

this is my awesome chevy project :D

it is a Chevrolet Suburban made in the fine year 1985 with a 6,2 liter diesel engine. the plan was to do something cool with the paint but since that plan was made the automatic transmission thought it would be a great idea to break down  but it is raised for 35" tyres by icelandic standards NOT the american way

So now the plan is...

1. Take care of ALL rust in the car ( witch is not much )
2. Put some awesome color on it maybe matte black or matte candy apple red or maybe gloss candy apple red I have´nt made the selection yet :)
3. Put some cool rims on it
4. Stereo
5. Lighting ( xenon )
6. Re-tint the windows
7. New Grille

this will all take a lot of time but I will bring updates as sonn as something happens.

I am currently looking for a place to restore the car but it is not going so great :(

but enough talking lets see some pics :D

sometimes, yes. There is a kind of offroad track for the motocross bikes in my hometown I sometimes go there and offcourse I try´d to do something at the offroad track where the 1000+ hp steeletube v8 muscle jeeps compete.

this is the formula offroad track where i live :D

Re: My Chevy Project

Looks like fun! Are you going for 1000bhp as well?

no i dont think so, maybe i will put a 454 engine in it with either turbo or a blower but the most sensible thing to do for this car is a 350small block with blower and that could produce 500 - 700 hp :)

the car is 2,25 tons so 350 small block is good for it because it is a cruiser not a 10sec drag racer :toung:

Re: My Chevy Project

Þetta er töffari

I would reccommend the 350 motor... It's a great motor and me and my friend are planning on putting one into an old Willys (can't remember the year right now) which is currently sitting on 33" or 35". The only problem is that since it is a convertible the old top can't handle much more than 80-90 km/h (around 50 mph). But then again I think you could solve that by just taking the top down:toung:

Re: My Chevy Project

Wait until you get the modding bug, you'll have it jacked up and with a roaring V8 turbo engine!

Re: My Chevy Project

hey no fair you stole my truck and repainted it. lol j/k. i have an 84 with the 350. don't plan on doing anything economical as far as gas goes. a stock 350 in a burban gets between 10 and 12 per gallon. not sure what you mean by icelandic standard vice american. currently i have 15" rims and 31" tires on mine. check out this site for alot of good products. they have an entire catalog devoted to the suburban 150+ pages. the ones im going for mine are the front bumper conversion (gets the turn signals out of the grill and puts them on the bumper) LED light kit for the back, also the LED light bar. and the EURO light conversion for the head lights (makes em light the modern ones with the bolb that twists into the reflector).

some one told me that if you want to put 35" tires on your car you have to raise it up like the car I show in this post :?

Re: My Chevy Project

hey there guys, I am in need of help, I am working on my truck these days and I removed the seats and carpet and found to my surprize NO rust at all, it is like it was painted yesterday and I am not kidding :D

but since i´ve started work on my truck I am going to "overhaul" it completely, I have ordered new headlights on it through a dealership here in a town nearby but they add some x ammount to the cost of the item + taxes so I want to buy something by myself to save a little money.

so my question is... do you know of any good spare parts and accessories shop on the internet ?

ant I dont want ebay there is almost nothing there for my truck :(

A lot depends on whether you want to import parts which is probably the only way. It is very impressive that there is no rust, you've got a good one there.

Try some searches on Google.ca for parts you will get us oriented results and probably turn up a few suppliers.

Let us know what parts you are after and we might be able to recommend a specialist shop to you.

What have you got planned for it long term then Ingo?

long term plans are :

new paint job ( starting in only 2 days )
fix the rust on the exterior ( also starting in 2 days, as you know you have to fix the rust to paint the car )
new suspencion
new wheels and tires
new windows
new engine ( maybe and then it will be either 454, 507 or 632 )
all new chrome
smacking sound system ( wires will be installed before the carpet goes back in )
new ophaulstry on the seats maybe leather

and maybe there will be something more to this list as it goes on :D

and I am looking to bye chrome and suspencion over the internet, the other stuff is available in iceland :)

I have another suburban for parts that is also amazingly rust free and I am hoping to use the front sides from that truck on my truck :D
