:p hi everyone can anyone give me some advice im on with a project of putting a ford mondeo 2.0 twin cam 16v engine in my sand rail and have hit a slight snag this being that the front calipers that are now the rear calipers do not have a mechanical arm for the handbrake so it wont pass an MOT im sure i cant use a hydraulic handbrake because this wont pass either:confused: question does anyone know of a caliper that will fit the mondeo front axle that has the mechanical arm for the handbrake or is there anyway that a hydraulic hand brake can be piped up that will allow it to pass an MOT any help would be appreciated

Have you looked at a Sierra 4x4 rear brake assembly/axle and modding the driveshafts to fit to fit the axle?

would it pass with 2 sets of calipers on the rear using the original ones for the handbrake and the large ones from th front just for the footbrake
just an idea but i dont know if it would

Hydralic h-bake won't pass the MOT unless it has a cable abd ratchet back up facility. you can source these here.... Hydraulic Handbrake Assembly | Handbrakes & Accessories | Demon Tweeks Motorsport, Motorcycle, Modifying, Parts and Accessories
Most budget rally/drift/race cars keep the original manufactures h-brake assembly and then just plumb a hyd-h-brake into the rear lines, meaning the better vertical type h-brake can be used that does not have the cable facility (and one i've used many times)

As to what calipers will fit, I assume there is some interchangable parts from the ford range that will go onto the mondeo hubs, if you are serious about using them. Think rear calipers off poss sierra, mondeo, granada or escort. Try a kitcar forum, they are more likely to know, especially any of the locost ones. I would imagine that if you kept the large front brakes off the mondeo you would have issues with a) the master cylinder not being able to fill the large brake pistons, b) imballance of ft - rear brakes, leading to you locking the rear brakes every time you brake, c) unsprung weight is going to be more with this set up. If you did keep the mondeo discs and calipers you would certainly need an ajustable brake bias valve in the circuit.

Don't know anything about sandrails, are they all rear engined?? Any chance of come pics?
