how big is your list of modifications that you are planning on doing in the near future?

i started drawing out mine last night and ended up finishing in the early hours with many pages :?

guess i'm itching to get started!

front & rear bumpers, F1 style fenders, roll bars, rear suspension arms, lexus lights and wheels still to get. Already got sideskirts, AEM induction and a Magnaflow exhaust system. Oh yeah, and my TEIN coilovers. I really need to choose some wheels so i can get them on and see how the car feels with them

how do you start off a list of modifications that isnt going to run your credit card/wallet/bank account/savings through the floor? do you do it gradually or do you just get everything in one go and then pay off one big lump sum?

i split my car up into sections and started on the engine, before it gets expensive though i'm concentrating on the other areas and mods that have multi uses like primer and sealer spray.

currently on interior, just done the dash next is dials :?

I tend to save up and get it all at once. You often get discounts that way and as you are buying the parts together you know they'll work well and look good together.

People spend thousands on a car through modifications and it only raises the cars value by a couple of hundred. Your best bet is to put removable mods on the car such as alloy wheels, air filters, bucket seats, sound system etc... so you can sell the car as standard and keep all the mods for your next car. Body-kits and engine work is obviously permanent and will loose you money in the long run but is usually worth it at the time.

Well, you did ask :)

WOW - I had to buy a bigger screen to read that list. Are you going to cover the car with a parts list - it would save painting it?

So basically - not a lot of weight and loads of power then? :D

Tell me about a knife edged crank - i've heard the expression a lot and assume it helps with balance, reducing rotational mass on the crank but the cod rod ends are round so I can't think where the knife edge comes in to it!

If you want to go FAST, then that is the only way to go.

Knife edged crank - The shaping is done on the crank webs, not the conrods. It, as you correctly say, reduces rotational mass and also improves the cranks path through the oil if you have a wet sump without a windage tray. Not critical but every little helps.

O-G, that's an impressive arsenal of mods. I'm guessing that it's more frequent use is on the track.

560bhp does sound nice though, should make overtaking on A roads a subliminal experience.

Hopefully not. The challenge is to make it "roadable". You spend so little time on the track that this is an awful amount of time and money spent just for a few minutes of fun each year.

Yes, it will make for an interesting drive :) However, it will look reasonably stock from the outside so will surprise an awful lot of people :)

All I have to do now is build it :-(

What you need is an economy switch with 200 bhp on tap and a sport switch that kick in with all of the ponies!

Sadly this is a bit of a dream, but maybe if you had 2 engines fitted you switch between them!

id be toooooooo scared to drive somthing that old incase i damaged it
the elans ive seen look to nie to be damaged

Well, it was originally made in 1967, but it's more akin to Trigger's broom now :)

Damage it, repair it. EVERYTHING is available (for standard ones, at least).

You already have an economy switch - the pedal furthest to the right.
You already have a sport switch, it's called NOS :)

ps. For the pedants among you (me included) the use of the abbreviation/initialism/acronym NOS is a joke between Waynne and me - See earlier messages somewhere else on this forum for an explanation :)

I wondered what the pedal on the right does. The one in the middle doesn't seem to do much. I tried it whilst parked and nothing happened so I won't bother using it on the road.

You'll be telling me next there are more than 2 throttle positions (on and off!)

Pedants - on Torquecars? Surely not?

Well, I have heard whisperings that there is a mythical position that exists between ON and OFF. However, I have also heard that this strange area has to be entered by FWD drivers in order to stop their front wheels from spinning if they go straight to ON :) Others claim that, as ON and OFF are diametrically opposed states of being, they have to be kept apart by a substance known as Transversite, otherwise the unthinkable will happen; all cars would instantly be transformed into Auto FWD!!!
:) :) :) I must get out more.

i have 2 mas air flow meters on mine, i just swap the wire over when i want power or economy 25mpg on one, 12 mpg on the other

Thats a really good idea glaymore. Any more details on how you created this setup and what you did to the 12 mpg air flow meter to get power?

That makes sense. Does the engine spin the supercharger when you are off boost and does this sap power?

your spot on, the first time i went on the rollers it gave 123bhp off boost, and 184bhp on boost, standard the car was 147bhp.
