MK1 Astra GTE Turbo

Hi All,

Stumbled across the site whilst reading a write up on a V6 Mk1 Astra.

Well I also have a Mk1 Astra running a chipped 2.0 16v Turbo (C20LET) and a 6 speed box (F28 ) giving 272BHP.
Full custom made leather interior too :)

The car had a ground up restoration over the last 18 months (a re shell of my old one) and now looks like this. Hope you like

Re: Newbie - MK1 Astra GTE Turbo

That is absolutely awesome - nice job! I bet it is fun to drive. Do you have traction issues in every gear?

I found some pics of my old 1982 Mk1 Astra yesterday - I'll try and post them up. It was the Black and gold limited edition EXP and was my second car.

Re: Newbie - MK1 Astra GTE Turbo

Re: Newbie - MK1 Astra GTE Turbo

Hi Herb,

The colour is Antigua Blue from the VX Tigra Roadster.
Yes, they are Mk2 Astra Champion edition Connelly leather Recaro's which I had re trimmed with the grey inserts along with rear bench and door cards.

I have loads of pics which I'll post off for ya mate no problem.

Re: Newbie - MK1 Astra GTE Turbo

Hi again chaps. Forgot about this forum but I just received a friendly email reminder. Still got the car and loving it :D She was voted best in club by the members of the Mk1 Astra Club at this years VBOA rally at Billing so was also entered into the Chairmans cup. Do you guys organise any meets around London, would be great to meet up and check out some other cool motors?

Have some pic's ;)

Still looking good. Were planning a meet in Ashford Kent. get your name down for it in the Meets forum.

Re: Newbie - MK1 Astra GTE Turbo

Mate thats a stunning car you got there well done. Bet that was hard work getting it to that standard. Good job mate

Looks great that.

A mate of mine had one like this, 300 bhp etc, Dave Franczak and 'Not Normal' if it rings a bell, owned a company called V Tuning.

Have had my fair share of GTE 16v Turbos, Astra GSI Turbos, all with LET's in them, unreliable as hell but fun when running ok!

Been up the POD?

Lovely restoration job mate, mk1 escorts, astra etc are some of the best

In conversation with Dunsfold Aerodrome looking into getting a massive meet on !!!

bloody lovely.. Retro is king...
He he, glad you like it mate. Thought you might like to see some pic's of the build up?

Well, I started of buying this one. It's the 2nd oldest GTE still in known existence and was built in Germany not Ellesmere Port thank god so is quite historic in it's own right. I snapped it up straight away and had it trailered down from Wales back to my lock up in Essex.

This is WUX a couple of years ago, looking good!

This is WUX in my lock up fresh off the trailer. Not looking so good

Next step was to get the car down to my mates for the re shell to begin

The following pic's are a small part of the extensive photo file that I have of the rebuild but these give you an idea of what's been done so far. The car was reasonably solid, the most important part being the bulkhead was anyway, but it did need inner and outer sills, bit of floor work and I have treated it to new GM inner wings.

Hi guys!!
Tex - yes, I know Dave and his old MK1 Turbo. It's just been broken up but the engine is still available pic's here http://www.mk1oc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7865&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Waynne - Battery has been relocated into the boot. When the new inner wings were fitted, we cut out the battery tray and welded it to the boot floor so it's ultra safe and secure

Used to use his Dad Henryk for everything Vauxhall, a nice couple of chaps, Astra Turbos, those were the days!
