Just wondering if there are any Mitsubishi specialists out there that no what the big differences between these engines are.

My understanding is that there are a few variants of the 4G93 which seems to have gone into a lot of Mitsubishi derivatives including Protons.

As far as I can tell, excluding the difference between carburetted and injected versions there's a 4G93 SOHC, a 4G93 DOHC and the 4G93T which went into the Lancer GSR.

The reason I ask is that I have inherited a Mirsubishi Carisma with the 4G93 SOHC, and if it lasts long enough (i.e. until I can find the additional funds, somewhere to work on it and a spare car to run around in), I rather like the idea of dropping the turbo version in and having a sleeper.

I doubt this is feasible as I have tried Googling for 4G93Ts for sale in the UK and found nothing, and I've tried looking for this conversion and found nothing.

Probably a bit silly to import a Lancer GSR just for the engine, when the Lancer would be a much better car than the Carisma, cheaper to insure and less of a headache knowing which parts are required at maintenance time. Mind you that wouldn't be a sleeper, would it?!

Keep an eye on the specialist Jap breakers I'm sure something will turn up for you. Keep us posted as this sounds like a really interesting project.
