I have been offered a mgzt 2.5 v6 I understand there is a squeak form a possible pulley/tensioner/alternator is it an easy cure? Could I just lubricate it or do I have to replace?
What is the mileage, has the cambelt been replaced? The cambelt is very expensive to replace on these engines!
Indeed, 6 years or 90k whatever is the soonest when all three belts, tensioner and water pump need replacing. Expensive yes, but not as bad as it once was, circa £450-500 these days. Some push their luck as the cost to change is not far off to buy another car.
I've had mine near on 8 years, changed the usual and when the time comes around again in 6 years I'll do the same again, better the devil you know I say.
