Mazda 3 2.2 2011 deisel 150bhp ecu change.

Greetings and a Warm Welcome to our TorqueCars Forum my Friend! :)

I am unable to help you with your question directly, but hopefully somebody can point you in the right direction for the knowledge that you seek!

Good luck buddy! :)

It's the weekend buddy and the sun is shining :)

I am sure someone will know about the intricacies of your particular model ;)

Yeah i was always going to remap but wondered if i could put the 183bhp ecu in so i could then remap :) :)

IMO I would discuss this with a tuner who specialises in your model to find out if what you want is possible as the maps may well be different and the pin outs totally different.

It's more liekly that the two ECUs are identical apart code in the NVRAM. You won't gain anything performance wise using the ECU from the higher powered car.

Plus, if the SAAB ECU setup is anything to go by, then the ECU would have to be married to the rest of the car's electrical system - immobiliser etc via a Tech II or the car will not recognise the electronics or even start up.

Ford is like this too, allegedly.

I shall bemoan the day when I have to get a footwell mat and air freshener programmed to match the car's ECU and CANBUS

Yes I expect that's coming in maybe 5 years.
Probably seat adjustment too.
Remember when life was simple?!!

I do indeed. Though to be fair in those days cars needed far more attention to keep them running properly. For me the golden era of reliability was the Primera 2.0i I bought in 1997 brand new.

Also the BMW 528i (2000 model which I bought when it was 9 years old) was similar - a complex car without doubt but never required anything outrageous in terms of maintenance.

Yes see where you are coming from and agree.
Mid nineties was the best era for me in terms of when reliablity started.

In my opinion diesel is not the way to go for long term low running costs. Don't get me wrong - I love the torque and midrange 'slam' on offer, as do many drivers. But it comes at a price .. .. ..
