Hello, I have used this stuff in the past and cant say anything bad about it, apart from the price. I have even used it in high concentrations in smokey engines, to no noticeable determent on economy. I have run it in high powered mini set ups, and other high power mod vehicle set ups and its probably extended, if not completely saved many of my engines and gearboxes. Any thoughts at all.? I have not tried the synthetic, only ever the mineral. Its one of those in my experience, does exactly what it says on the tin. cheers.

Personally I'd switch to synthetic and avoid all oil additives.

Mineral oils ( I am not sure if you mean mineral Lucas additive or mineral oil) are mostly defunct apart from some very specialist racing two stroke racing applications. And of course some vintage engines that require specify monograde oils. Many vintage car operators have switched to multigrade synthetics with clear benefits and no adverse effects.

When you say high mileage, how high are we thinking? Is it possible that the use of mineral oil has caused the excessive engine wear that would have been avoided with a good quality synthetic?

My 1.8 renault nasp, is a smokey lump, if i run the 5/30 as recommended it uses as much oil as fuel! Its the valve stem oil seals. The car runs full power sweet on throttle, smokes on tickover and de throttle. I run the lucas heavy duty oil stabiliser in very high concentrations in that unit, to stem oil use, and pass emissions tests. It has not altered the mpg or power. I swear by it. The 1.8 is getting tired now, and piston slap/rattle can be heard now when the engine is cold. hence the 2ltr turbo donor car.
