hello to everybody..i have an audi a3 tdi which got a sudden loss of power to it and when i checked the onboard computer it says i have an defective wastegate,is this an expensive problem and would it explain a slight whineing noise on the turbo....many thanks
 
No it is not a terribly expensive part. It costs between £50-90 depending where you get it from. The whining is usually the turbo spooling up. Depending on how defective the wastegate is, it could be that turbo is working over-time and spooling more than normal.
