True. But what if I want to make the wheelbase longer by, say, only about 300mm?

well you will still need to weld some new chassis in to strengthen the car.
some box steel inside the sills would be the way to go.

You have to be seriously dedicated to really want to mod a car this way. It is far far far more economical just to buy a bigger car in the first place.
