Right, now I'm probably going to put my foot in it here, as I always do, but lets have a go at finding the least manly car out there.

There is quite a big list consisting of VW Beetles, Wagon R's, Smart, Vaxhaul Tigra, citroen c1, ect ect.

I'll start us off.

For me it has got to be the Peugeot 107.

Im my eye's, no MAN should never be in, let alone drive one of these horrible little cars.

Fiat 500

and the new Peugeot RCZ, come to think of it most of Peugeot's current range is completley testosterone free.

Boxster. They should all be pink from the factory. 911 or go home that is.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. But the Boxster S is not incapable as a car. The E is a bit half-hearted. You'd get better performance from a remapped Laguna 2.0 dCi 172

But I always like the 928 S4 V8 models and that was called the girlie Porsche.

See, were they not made for men, but then adapted to suit women? I mean, if you see someone in an NEW X5 (ok maby a X3 is a girls car) you wouldn't automatically think, ''you soppy sod, buy a proper car'' you would in fact automatically think ''you pompus toff, you obviously have too much money and have no desire to take this off road, or you would have bought a Disco''

Where as if I saw a man driving a 107, I would just automatically think ''what on earth posessed you to wast your money on that thing, go and sell it and buy a jag, just to get your self esteem back on par''

Courtesy Car.

do you mean the 107 would be a courtesy car, or is it that having to drive a courtesy car is unmanly? because imo having an accident is nothing to be ashamed of, unless it's in your pants  or in bed

I was referring to a simple dealer/indy specialist supplied car when yours (or, indeed, mine) is in for a service.

I had a serious RTC June 2009 and I am deeply ashamed despite the fact that I was completely exonerated of any contributory blame.

Know what? I'd rather have had even just 5% blame attributed to me because that way I could have made some changes to my driving technique such that I might be able to slightly reduce the risk of the same thing happening again.

Bodyshop courtesy cars usually have their business name plastered all over them so there's no shame in driving it - funnily enough my car was a full insurance write off after a frontal at nearly 60mph so there was no body shop involved at all. The fact that I walked away from it is remarkable and I am grateful for that at least.

In some ways if I had to drive (for whatever reason) a Peugeot 107 I'd far rather that it did have COURTESY CAR plastered all over it lest someone might just think that I actually chose to buy and drive a Peugeot 107.

But a 1007 is infinitely worse.

agreed

By accident I meant the little one's that happen in car parks and small bump's that you would have to get a bodyshop to repair, thus having to drive a courtesy car. Of course if someone is doing near 60mph where they shouldn't be and hits someone else then they have every right to and damn well should be ashamed of themselves and I am no exception to the rule :blink:but being absolved of any blame then no i don't think there is any reason to be;),

I have had a couple of slight shunts in the past and at the very least have felt a bit emasculated by it, but as you said; if you learn from it and adapt your driving technique accordingly it goes a long way to making sure it doesn't happen again and so not having to be ashamed of it since it has made you a better and more appreciative driver

See, I think I'd rather walk then have one of them for a Courtesy car.

Well, for that reason then, the 107 cant be the least manly car, if someone here is willing to drive it under caviats. What car would you not drive/be seen in HDI?

@ HDI Eh.....

I'm Confused.com now

I'd rather not be seen dead in it.

'Cos that would mean I'd have been killed.

Just noticed, however, that your question didn't actually refer to my health so I'l refute my silly answer.

Seriously though, I don't like the image that a BMW badge projects.

What are your view with men in smart cars?

I always seem to get the urge to hit them. It this just me??

On that note, did anyone watch watchdog the other week? Where they claimed smart cars were not as economical as they say they are? Some guy was on there moaning about how he only got 66.5mpg out of his and not the stated 85mpg. I felt like phonin up and explaining to him that ''if the lack of MPH was his biggest disapointment with his car, then his whole existance on this earth must have been a disapointment to all who know him!!!!!!'' I mean the guy was about 16 stone. What did he expect?? Smarts mph test probably consisted of a rolling road and a brick. Not a fat northener with hills.

Im sorry if I come accross angry today. I have had my skiing trip cancelled last second. I was stood out in the cold for 40 min wating for a buss that never came.

I think Smart owners (male & female) are a fine up standing lot who have a healthy & very friendly club scene. :p

You have my sympathies, will you be covered by the holiday insurance?

A friend of mine has a diesel smart & she's managed a best of 71mpg so I don't know what all the hoo har is about, I agree manufactures figures are always optimistic!

Loz, thanks for your sympothy. It was only a few days up in the Cairngorms (in Scotland) but was looking forward to it. I didn't know you had a Smart. I actually quite like them, and think they are a good car (nothing like kissing arse!!;)) But come on, why buy one? I can think of 100's of reasons why not to buy one. Lets have one good reason! lol. If you live in a City, and only have a place to park a bike, then fair enough, otherwise, I could never justify it. :D

Ok Boxster...most girly car that is not aimed directly at women?

You never see a smile on the face of men who buy boxter's. They are trying to tell people around them that ''they have done well in life and own a porche'' but what they are really thinking is ''I have done ok in life to afford a new one of these, but not well enough to buy a 911.''

There is just some cars you don't buy.

Ha ha!
My Smart was one of the best cars I've owned.
One Christmas 99 or 2000 I can't remember, I sat in a imported one in Covent Garden. At the time they looked so amazing & the design was nothing like anything else on the road, remeber back then there were no Toyota iQ's, Mitsubishi i's etc.
I decided then I wanted one & in 2003 I bought one. They were still uncommon enough to cause a stir everywhere I went & I have honestly never had a car that generated so much interest.

A small tuning scene grew up almost immediately, there's something about tiny cars that makes people want to turn in them into go karts (look at Arbarth & Cooper for example) & the amount of goodies you could get to personalise & tune your car just grew & grew along with the owners club which soon became only second to the Mini in terms of size & number of members!

Customer service was another factor why I kept the car. Smart centres were mostly in Mercedes dealerships & you got fantastic service.

Driving one around town was hoot & parking turned into a game!

I did however, take an awful lot of stick for it a work!
