has anybody here have any first hand experience of kinugawa turbos.. i am sorely tempted by their TD04HL19T CHRA in my next engine modding session..

there are some stories/reviews around the net but nobody can substantiate the bad ones i.e. more like hearsay... these turbos have genuine mitsubishi internals with a compressor housing they have made, so i can't really see a downside...

anybody here used one?

I had a 19T on my Saab 9-3 and it was a pig to control properly! Not altogether sure why but it was very very fussy. Had this taken straight off and went over to a GTRS 71 which was much better.

interesting.... did the off the shelf maptun map work on that or did they have to make you one? I am not familiar with that turbo, did you need to change your manifold to use it?

Needed a custom map from MapTun for the GTRS71 - there was a lot of attempts to get it right due to me being in the UK and MapTun in Sweden.
Had a modified tubular manifold fitted.

new maps are not a problem, the 19T comes with a map ready made for my block.. and this particular model turbo is bolt on with no need to change the manifold, downpipe plus oil and water lines etc.. Going for any other model would mean more expense of course..

T9, have you still got any of the parts form your previous set up?

Not a single thing I'm afraid my friend :sad2: I am currently in both a fortunate and unfortunate position!
I just don't need the money from selling my used parts for personal profit; unfortunately I have a serious medical condition which has meant me relying on the skills of Cancer Research UK! So all monies raised by selling my parts/equipment are routinely donated to the Cancer Research funds!
The waiting list for my used parts from fellow Saab owners is massive; as the parts are never on the car for long before I feel the need to upgrade. :)

okey dokey.. I think I will give this kinugawa chra and compressor housing a go in feb, just gotta get my CT and VAT out of the way... My intercooler is leaking so I need a new one of those as well, either from Forge or Abbott..

T9, I hope all works out for you bud.. Not sure exactly where your at but I do a lot for MacMillan as they were great to me in the past..

Merry Christmas everyone..

Thanks DB, have not felt the need to call them as of yet and if the treatment leaves up to the hype then I never will.

Stilll looking into this and came across mentions of Saabflight and their modified td04 which apparently is good and has some good reviews.. anybody used it a version of a 19t

Have not used a Saabflight version turbo before so unable to recommend them to you DB, be careful though and do your research well before parting with any money. I have heard of a company called UT here in the UK who are turbo specialists - avoid like the plague!

Try Turbo dynamics, they do hybrid turbos and have been around for years.
