With the VAT going back up to 17.5% you can expect the price of fuel to go up another few pence.

I wonder if some forecourts are holding higher prices to try to offset this next increase or cusion it in some way?

TIP: Fill up your tank on the 31st December!

with any luck the supermarkets will use petrol as one of the components of their price wars with the other supermarkets and this should keep the likes of BP, Shell etc... from trying to raise prices too much.
Oil price went down to almost USD70/barrel over the past couple of weeks but in the past few days has crept back up to USD79/barrel. OPEC have announced that they are comfortable to keep the levels at USD70-80/barrel so hopefully if the price increase any further they can increase production and prevent further price rises from this side.
Note though, the Govt have made the country bust. Suspect that in the actual budget they will try and force through further price rises in petrol.
