I have an intermittant surge when the engine is warm - the revs clim up to about 1050 whereas the idle should be about 825 rpm. The electrical system is OK plugs are clean. Any ideas?

depending on the type of fuel system on the car ie carb or injection there are two possible faults 1st injection... poss that the throttle potentiometer may be faulty you can test this the voltage on the signal wire should be .9 of a volt when at idle.......... 2nd carb possibility an air leak around the carb base to test this get a can of brake and carb cleaner and spray around the base and see if the revs increas if so replace the required gasket..... hope this helps......
