Hey guys id like to clean the intercooler on my diesel SUV , its been on the car for 5 years and did about 50k kms only but it lived through a bad turbo that was throwing oil ..

Ive recently been getting black smoke at high Rpm .. already replaced the air filter and the Turbo but i still have ways to go if i hope to get rid of all the smoke ..

Anyway ive seen multiple vids on youtube where people use flammable liquids to clean the intercooler , such as gasoline or paint thinner and i feel like that could be risky ..

Whats the best way to clean an Intercooler ? i wish to clean both the inside and the outside

I would recommend that you lay it flat so that you can fill it with degreasing oil and let it soak overnight then drain it out and hose out any residue then blast it with air to ensure that it is dry internally before refitting it to your vehicle.

I suggest that you save the DG oil if you want so it can be used again in a pump spray bottle :)
