Has any one noticed that insurance qoutes have gone through the roof. last year i got qoutes ranging from £ 1500 up to £4-5000. (this is for the seat). yet this year im getin qoutes from £2500 up to £10000. what are your thoughts on this. and are there any tips on how to make your qoutes cheaper?

that is silly

when i changed my trans am over from a new shape to old shape i got money back think its about 300 quid now
and my landrover is 400 quid both fully comp and i am 26

but having owned yanks for a few years then i bought a volvo c70 t5 that was about a grand even with 5y ncb so now i am sticking with yanks is so much cheaper

Premiums have shot up. Insurance companies seem to want to make a profit. I guess the rising cost of fuel is putting up prices in the recovery and relay industries and as a result repair costs are going up.

My brother in law was recently totally stitched up by his insurers. His insurers messed up his repayments and wanted a one off payment of £190, they forgot to add the interest!

As he didn't have the money he was told his only option was to cancel the policy and restart it. Then after he cancelled it, they told him he couldn't restart a policy with them! He also reported a claim to them which he paid himself and they are refusing to give him his 1 years no claims bonus!

yep. thats proberly whats causing it. unforunatly i havent got £3000 to spend on insurance even if it is nessurary.

its for the seat. (rat project). with back seats removed as its cheaper somehow and thats third party, fire and theft. and its by my self. but it might be cheaper to have my mum on it.

my mum did a qoute last year and it came to just over £600. i dont know how she did it. shame she cant get a qoute like that now.:(

well it should drop by the time you come to do yours:). if any one has any tips about insurance. please comment.

There was a bit on the radio a few days ago about this. Apparently the rise in prices is due to the increase in claims of things like whiplash etc, aided by the higher percentage of fabricated claims of similar injuries as they are almost impossible to verify after an accident. Everyone has jumped on the bandwagon and even the most innocuous of shunts now results in a claim for a few thousand quid.
We all pay for this one way or another. So retrospectively, if your insurance has dropped, it would have gone down considerably more if it wasn't for the above situation.

£300 i pay for a renualt espace 2.1 i think they put the price up when ever there is an excuese to do so .but th3y never seem to drop it if we have a nice summer do thay.

the quote for full comp on an evo 10 fq360 worth 25k @ 5000miles a year and garaged is GBP650 with 3 years ncb.

my mitsubishi 1.9 DiD with all the same conditions as the above except worth GBP3000 is GBP450 a year. So can have over twice the power more for extra gbp200???

insurance is going up because of all the accidents people have had since weve had all the snow in december, so to get there money back they put our insurance up, bastooords

i got rang up today from sky insurance and i asked why my qoutes had nearly doubled and the bloke said last year was the highest recorded year for people putting claims in. although my qoutes have started to drop now by a couple of 100 pounds. im hoping it will drop even more though:bigsmile:

Sadly we're all funding those miscreants who don't bother with insurance. Or those who drive disdainfully poorly and cause needless claims. The risk is always spread amongst us.

Perhaps if the fine for driving without insurance was £10,000 more would think twice before doing it.

yep unfortunlty we have to. yet i dont see why we should have to pay for other peoples mistakes. when we take care on the road and only do racing/trackdays on the track or at laest i hope so.

yeah when your insurance is £3k and your looking at a £60 fine i can see why the later appeals. hopefully they will be back to normal by june when mines is due

I paid £560 or sumthin around there for mine...tbh i just shoved my details in one of those comparison websites and picked the first one. (the most expensive mite i add went up to somewhere around £6000) But as bumpkin said people are claiming over sillier and sillier things. u only have to watch some of those "case study" adverts on tv from accident lawyers to see how over the top some things are. Its being drummed into our brains to always blame someone else i think ...xD

My Insurnace for My Kia is £900, adding my mum to it made it go to £1200, (so shes not on it), last year my insurance was £780, though that was for an 04 Megane 1.5dci 82bhp,

so the power and value of the car has increased so i expected my insurnce to go up

probably gone up because all the snow we have had, has caused alot of accidents, so insurance companies put up the prices to get there money bck that theyve had to pay out lol. baaaasterrrdss

I must be lucky then I pay about £900 a year fully comp with all options (legal, breakdown etc) for my group 16 Golf GT 170, my business use Primastar Se van and the group 20 944 turbo with all it's mods on and that's with 3 different companies. Only suggestion I have is don't bother with the big companies for any high power cars or any car over 10 yrs old. Just go straight to specialist brokers for these types of vehicles. I use Heritage brokers for the 944T and Golf who put me with 2 different companies.

was reading about this last night. more to do with compo claim culture we now live in.

its going to mess up young ones more fair enough 12% on my policy is around £49 increase a year however on someone who is paying £2500 a year for a 1.2 banger is looking at another £300 on their policys. and possibly more as the 12% is an average so might charge younger ones more again

Insurance companies are now writing off more cars in general and getting away with lower payouts.
We have one in at the moment that is perfectly safe with a few parts and minor repairs but they were going to write it off. Between us and the owner who has spent a hell of a lot on the car we have managed to get it to an agreement on repair.
The sum they were offering the owner was pathetic, Insurance companies really are legalised scammers with no retribution in general.
