Infinity Kappa - any good?

Looking to upgrade my dashboard speakers now for something with a bit more oomph! they are 3 1/2" 20watt Saab co-axials and a replacement for these have been suggested from the Infinity Kappa range!

I hear their subs are very good but unsure about the speakers! model quoted is a 32.9cf at 35watts RMS - anyone familiar with this little beast?

A Saab unit called Premier 300 which was made by Pioneer apparently! not a bad sound actually, mostly listen to my iPod through it and all speakers (13 of them not inc Sub) run through 3 Alpine Amplifiers and an Alpine active crossover

Speakers are incredibly hard to audition when they're not in the environment in which they're going to be used.

So true HDi, had to take a gamble with these but it paid off!

I might look at getting some betting drivers installed in my car. The BMW OEM stuff is not at all special. It has 'one note bass' syndrome. It's a bit 'bangy'.

I was far happier with the Harman-Kardon/JBL amps/speakers standard in my Peugeot 406. That system had deep and musical bass, I could hear the start and end of every bass note (and the pitch of each of them). Along with it's musical mid and top response it made for a very pleasant listening experience indeed. Especially so since considering we're talking about the interior of a car as a listening environment.

Well there is so many quality items out there now HDi, car audio is not one of my strong points i'm afraid! but if anyone can put a decent car system together, especially with your audio knowledge HDi then it is definitely you! let me know how you get on

Car audio is not my specialist area either. I'm a musician and my ears are very alert and critical. But I don't do much more than use the FM tuner for much of my driving time - I don't even swap out CDs in the changer much more than once a year so perhaps I'll leave it be for now whilst money is a bit tight.
