the only worthwhile thing is a turbo, that's gonna give you the biggest bang for buck.

you could spend thousands on n/a tuning a 1.4, but imo, it's pretty pointless (especially as it's a peugeot, no offence)

how about an engine conversion?

Rather nice! don't look like a two-a-penny version though

So is a fitting kit available for the 106. No, stop it, you're giving me too many ideas. Rather interesting though....

I think most of them are DIY jobs to be honest! The MI16 engines are cheap and readily available, but finding someone to fit it would be the hard part..

You could trying contacting Pug1off in Brackley and have a chat. Pug1Off specialises in custom tuning to the extent of swapping engines. The Mi16 unit has been jammed in a 205, so i'm told so it's worth seeking them out.

NOS, NOS, and lots more NOS. You wont get over 150MPH in any 206, or around any track! You would need a long long straight and a very long final drive in your gear box!

Oh, lol.. Then its not a TU 106 engine its an Mi16 engine, which can almost definitely go into a 206. Ring Ecosse for some details but I hope you are good friends with your bank manager.
