immobiliser failure on a 147

Sounds to me like the immobiliser has failed. :)

We could, of course, look at this cynically from the opposite perspective and conclude that the immobiliser is working very well indeed. :)

The only way to determine the exact fault is to get the car onto a diagnostic rig. The problem you have is that it's immobilised so getting it to a dealer/specialist is difficult.

Do you have breakdown and recovery services? That might be a worthwhile place to start.

Sorry for the silly responses at the top, I do totally understand the frustration this causes.

Perhaps post in the Alfa specific forum and see if anyone can offer a short term workaround.

That's not so bad then, at least you got to the bottom of it. Was the fuel pump or the injectors that caused the issue then?
 
The low rail pressure might be a secondary symptom. Some immobilisers work by simply stalling the fuel rail pressure pump. The starter motor and ignition systems are left in place.
Hopefully they'll come up with something tangible and affordable as a permanent remedy.
