 i have a standard corsa sxi 1.2 and want put a 2ltr in my car but dont know where to start?! :sad2:

Cheapest and best way you are going to do this mate is to buy a complete donar car. That way you will pay probably 10 times less and get literaly everything you need staright off ;)

Unfortunatly you have a 1.2 so there for you are gonna need to uprate the brakes and suspension to take the extra 60-70bhp you'll be gaining.

Basic list needed is as follows.

Engine.
Engine Loom/Wires
All water pipes.
All ancilery pipes such as breathers and idle control pipes
ECU that belongs to the 2.0.
Custom made engine mounts (can be bought from Courtenay Sport as a pack)

If anything like my friend you may even have to change all the ignition barrel over to match the key that come with the donar car as most newer mototrs tend to have a chip in the ecu and the key, so when you start the car, the ECU can tell if it's the right chip.

Dont bother getting hold of a C20XE engine (Red Top 2.0) as you will be almost definatly have to pay out to get it reconditioned as 99.9% of these engine ares now driven into the ground. Instead just get the X20XE engine (Eco-Tec 2.0) remapped and jobs a goodn'.

There is nothing wrong what so ever with the later 2.0 engines, it's more down to rumours that this engine is no good. It's just cheaper and easier to maintain an engine that can still be bought brand new.

The best donar car you are going to find to be fair is most likly going to be a 2.0 Vectra or even a 2.0 Astra sport (you might be able to use the drive shafts from this car aswell but they are a little more than a Vectra)

#Also in getting the ectra you will also have a very good gear box to drop into your Corsa with the engine. If you get hold of a 2.0 Vectra SRi you will get the nice F18 gearbox or if you are lucky, the stronger F23. Both are 5 speed and both are quite strong. I left my F23 in my Vectra when I dropped a Red Top turbo into it and handled the extra power all day long.

Thing i've covered most bits there. Any further questions, just fire away ;)

doin a 2.0 conversion in your car is a good idea ive got a 2.0 16v red top engine in my nova which i find is great.
getting a donar car is a good idea as like said you have got most of the parts you need as for the fitting kit u can get them from courtney as a kit but i would give chris ashley motorsport a go as they are just all round cheaper
as for engines i would personlly go for the c20 xe as you have got 150bhp straight away and there is loads of tuning stuff for these engines if you want a whole car with one of these engines in you will be looking for these cars mk2 astra gte, 16v mk3 astra gsi 16v earlyer spec, calibra 16v earlyer spec, cavalier gsi 16v,cavalier sri earlyer spec

but not saying the X20xe are any worse but people moan about them as they have alot more sensors and are very restricted on the inlet but are a cheaper

i personally would want to put a Z20LET engine in but theirs a little issue of getting a donor car with that as its a VXR Astra engine :p

with my experiances though with vaxuhall though iv had huge and expencive problems with my X engine (X18XE1), the most recent being the piston rings got fryed after 50,000 mile, dunno weather it was just a bad engine or what but its the second one i had to put in the car, the first X18 engine i had in the astra had the timing belt tentioner go on it and everything inside the engine went bang and iv had to replace the EGR Valve twice on both engines as well as clean out the throttle body at least once on both engines

as for you mate id probably go for a C20XE engine and get it reconditioned if you have got the cash as they would probably be more reliable in the long run, but the X20 engine would be cheaper up front and easyer to get a hold of and maintain

what shape is ur corsa is it the corsa b shape or the c shape.
as i would say if its a corsa b a c20xe or a c20 let would be the way forwards
or if its a corsa c it would have to be a a z18xe or the z20let
but all this depends on how much work your looking to do and how deep ur pockets are

Im looking to do exactly the same position. Is it possible to get a 2.5i V6 from a Calibra into a 2001 Corsa C 1.0? Found Calibra running perfect for 500pounds. New to all of this so any information gratefully welcomed.

As Pgarner said, but the LET is a much better option anyway so I don't see why you'd want to.

Would it be easier with a 2.0ltr turbo i take it? Its my first car and want to make it a project rather than buying a new car. I was thinking of making the most of the standard car trying to make it as fast as i could, but now thinking of 2.0ltr + engine. Are there any specialist centres/garages that would help me with the work?

How do you mean help you out? You should be able to get all the advice you need from the forums. If you're paying someone to do a full converison rather than doing it yourself, I wouldn't even bother. It will cost an absolute fortune and you'll have missed a big opportunity to learn. If you do it yourself, the conversion can be done for pennies (realitively speaking). Yes the C20LET is a good choice, but as said, most are knackered and you'd be best rebuilding it anyway while it's out of the car.

Bear in mind that with a project of this size you'll need to take the car off the road and get something else to run about in.

You could always drop it in and wire it up as best you can and then ask the garage to check it over and troubleshoot it.
