I paid for a full service but did I get one?

A car company has said that they have carried out a full service on my x-type but i am not so sure.
Is there a way to simply check in such a way that i can go back to them and show them that they are lying

The oil filter should be pretty clean as will the air filter. The oil on the dipstick should also be fairly clean.

I always make a point of asking for the old parts as this pretty much guarantees they will change them.

Agree with Wayne unless you trust the garage ask for the parts they replace.

So tru gotta ask for the part before you hand over the keys. Some shops will junk em as soon as they are pulled here in the states so asking when you pick up your keys might get you an out of luck situation. Also go to a reputable shop, we have the Better Business Buruea here, not sure if you all have something similar but im sure you have plenty of review sites for service providers. Check all info first and still ask for the parts or just to see them.
