How to remove rust tips needed

What tips would you have for someone wanting to remove rust from their car?

What would you do to fix surface rust? What about deeper rust where the doors or boot have become very corroded?

With surface rust i would sand it out and apply a good rust preventer,fill,prime and paint.
With deep rust if needed i would cut it out weld in new metal,apply rust preventer,fill,prime and paint.
