There are so many ways to increase power in a turbo motor and a few are
- Hi flow the existing turbo
- Install a larger more effective intercooler
- Install a larger turbo
- Install a big bore turbo back exhaust with free flowing silencers
- Increase boost pressure.
- Reprogram fuel and ignition maps to suit.
- Install an aftermarket computer/EMS
All of the above can be done without opening the motor PROVIDED THAT the motor is able to handle the amount of additional stress/power reliably .
FWIW my motor was built to handle the 200% + power increase with a hot tanked crack tested bored block, head and crank with forged pistons and rods, balanced,ARP main and head studs,MLS head gasket, and a ported head with aftermarket cams.and there have been zero problems for 4 years and app 20000 KLMS.
