honda prelude big problem please help to solve

hi i have a prelude 1993 2.2 si vtec manual on a p13 ecu the problem is it will drive fine then all of a sudden sometimes the engine jus cuts out and wont stqrt again for about 5 or 10 min it is really irritating, have these got a standard immobiliser if so where is it or how can i bypass it, also if not what could this be?thankyou in advance

Hi Sheldon, I have exactly the same model and have a similar problem. The revs drop too low and cuts out. It's the idle control valve. If the battery has been disconnected then you need to re-train the ecu.

1. Turn the car on and let her idle for about 15 mins.
2. Drive as you would normally (no hitting v-tec) for about 20 mins.

If this doesn't work you can try cleaning the valve and then repeating the process.

My current Prelude (B20a7) had a similer problem some time ago due to a minor exhaust leak, so it could be worth checking that aswell.

Also, try taking a knife & poking an air hole in the fuel filler cap.
