What is the highest garage bill you've had so far? What was it for and was it a surprise?

I got stung for £1200 for a service, set of new tyres and brakes. A lot of money but good value considering the cost of the items.

Well if we are talking about in one hit, then about 18 months or so ago when I had bought the special race engine, new turbo, new tubular exhaust manifold, new exhaust system, custom made carbon fibre trims and new everything (List too long to write down) all of which was fitted in just 10 weeks at the garage, the bill - £28.4K ;)

I knew your car would be a lot... But I had no idea it would have been that much! :amazed:

It was also a measure of my worth and value to the garage as they did not ask for any kind of a deposit from me.
A lot of money to some, yes, but to me it was not about the final figure but what I deem to be value for money in what has been created for me ;)

When I had my 306, my moronic step dad fitted the alternator belt for me and it snapped and took a coolant pipe with it. Mum took it to a garage as she was driving whilst it happened and they charged her £250 ro replace a radiator pipe....

Recommission? The car had been stood for 2 years and the service history was sketchy as owner had done it himself so I had every seal, gasket, oils/fluids, plugs, coilpacks, cam belts, waterpumps etc etc etc changed. Budgeted for about £3k for that lot so £7k was a bit of a shock and all my paint money gone. With hindsight the guy just didn't know about Skylines so I was basically paying him to learn how to get round a RB26 even though he advertised himself as a Japanese specialist and builds race cars for people. Since my experience seems he's done same to lots of other people.
