hi need ur opinions on what and how to modfy my mk5b escort 1.6i

ok i might try that tonight when i get back from college and will post up some pics after need to paint the wheel arches where i have built them up to match the side skirts ive also been looking at advanti sg40 wheels with budget vr tyres for £489 what u think

Nice. The only thing i'd say is that you should get disc brakes on the rear as the drums will look a bit sad behind those rims.

yea i will do at some point dose any 1 know how much the rear brake convrevsion will be and where i could get it done

Like the wheels, I have a thing for black wheels! Was going to get the VRS's wheels done anthracite - my XR2 alloys were painted black, looked wicked with red

My FRST was pink when first got it, after a lot of elbow grease...

like the wheels mate, but advise splashing out on decent tyres. at the end of the day there the only parts on the car on the black stuff.

rear disc conversion, scrappy and get the parts from there (hubs discs calipers etc) just make sure you get new seals in the calipers along with a good clean and greaseing

Personally I wouldn't bother with rear disc conversion, although if you want it for cosmetic reasons go for it, but power certainly doesn't warrant it (even RS turbos only have rear drums ;)) I'll stop hi-jacking your thread now

any ideas on festa xr3i engine fiting in to my escort mk5b

You may mean an XR2I engine buddy. As far as i'm aware it's a pretty straight forwards job because I think the engine should just drop straight in there buddy.

If the stud pattern pcd and offset are the same then it should.
dose any1 know if they are because i have know idea what i am looking for or were to look and about the xr2i engine is any 1 got an xr2i for sale or a 1.8i zetec or a 2.0 zetec that will fit my escort mk5b mk5 front end mk6 rear end why do i get the f*****g confusing cars

ok thanks more info on all aspects on my car for tuning also i was driving to college and the rate of exeleration in third gear was just nonexistant so i changed into 4th and instant exeleration any ideas what could have happend it was definantly in 3rd gear when power went im gunna change the clutch when i pass my practical driving test

That doesn't sound like a clutch problem to me more a gearbox itself if anything? It's strange though that you went up a gear and got acceleration?

dont know all i know without look in because its at home and im at college is it a 1.6i cvh 16valve
other stuff on the engine
efi
DOHC i think
dont know if that helps at all

If its CVH its 8v single cam

The Zetec are 16v DOHC

1.8 XR2i are Zetec - early 1.6 XR2 are CVH though ;)

Could be a flat spot at the higer rpm. See if the power dips at any point in the RPM range in any gear. I'm guessing it is around 3300 rpm

my mistake its a 1.6 zetec sefi injection what can i change on it say air fillter and other bits

my dads old escort was a cvh 1.6i

it should tail off after peak power which is proberly 5500 rpm or there abouts.

panel filter, fuel pressure reg, cams, exhaust, cat. exhaust manifold should do you for starters

yea insurance is a pain in the ass but needs to be done what mods can i do that i dont need to tell them about

Yup, all mods no matter how small must be declared. this includes things such as aftermarket gearknobs pedals tax disc holder. basically if somethings been changed then they need to know about it otherwise you might find that the void your insurnce if an accident occurs
