Honda Accord 2.2 D
hey all ive just fitted an induction filter to my honda accord 2.2 diesel and the engine malfunction light has come on ,am i gonna destroy my car?

did you disconnect any wires ? have a look around you may have knocked out wiring plug out somewhere. take it to a decent independent garage or a honda specialist and get a diagnostic scan done. wouldnt bother with honda as theyll charge a fortune

The chance of damage is nil. Diesels are so tightly regulated now for emissions that even a transient fault that clears immediately has to be manually reset. Thus making dealers lots and lots of extra cash.

You only need to turn the key to the on position while the airflow sensor is disconnected, for example, for a fault to be recorded. Reconnecting the sensor and turning off and on again is no longer enough :-(

Many local garages can reset warning lights for you. There is a slim chance you split an intake pipe whilst fitting or there is an air leak past the MAF which will cause the ECU to wonder where the air is going. It is best to disconnect and reconnect the MAF wires, check the engine is running well. If it is then you can either live with the light or get a garage to reset it.

If the engine is lumpy or down on power you might have inadvertantly broke something or at least broke a connection (the remove and refit MAF wires should help with this!)

thanx for the help, had a dig around and (i feel daft!) id reinstalled the air flow sensor backwards hahahahaha
cheers

So the engine was being told that the air flow was -30cfm! No wonder it wasn't happy with that:lol: Glad its sorted!

If that had been my bloody Peugeot it would have gone into NO BOOST FOR YOU MATEY mode until I got it reset. Dropping from 190bhp to about 75bhp IS NOT FUNNY.

Glad you got away with it

I'm about 700 miles away - Find Dover on a map and I'm 15 minutes further on from that!

I can however get to France on about £1.50 worth of petrol!

Isn't it scary that you're talking about a forty mile round trip and tenner's worth of fuel inthe same sentence? Fuel prices really are scary

Unleaded £1.22.9 down my way this weekend!!!! GRRRRR!

Why do they stick on the .9 instead of just admitting is 1.23!
