Alot of people claim the rb26 are unreliable and blow up .. Many engine conversions have went to the 1jz and 2jz route.
Even when forging the internals, the still somehow pop under boost pressure...
What a ridiculous post .
Sorry but I dont know how you can post a generalisation like this with no facts to back it up and starting with - a lot of people claim . Who and where ?
There is no history of them going pop once forged and properly mapped on any of the rb forums (maybe there is on the vw forums )
However there certainly is a history of muppetts bolting large turbos onto standard rb26 engines , raising the boost to a silly level and wondering why theres a problem.
Because raisng the boost raises the power a lot of people just bolt on a large turbo and think thats it .
More boost means more heat (which of course is bad for engines) but you dont need high boost to produce power . Mine runs 510 on 1,2 bar and if I ever need it around 600 at 1.6 (thats dyno bhp not pub bhp )
That is a level of power you simply cannott acheive with an awful lot of engines under 3 litre
You are correct that the jz engines are more reliable and in standard trim can take more power for sure than any rb standard engine.
The reason you dont see lots of rb motors in lots of other cars is because it means changing the car to awd which is pretty difficult.
