Hi all,

I keep being pointed to this site on my search for tuning options for my Vr6 Touareg, so finally decided to sign up.

I have an itch for a project car but can't decide what to go with. It will be one of the following, probably.

Mazda Rx8 - I own one but it has rusted through so time to start again
Touareg 3.6 V6 - current daily driver and family adventure wagon
Audi TT 1.8t - don't own one but they seem to have good tuning potential

I am leaning toward the TT, if I can find a reasonably cheap one to tear down and rebuild.

Hello and a very warm, welcome to TorqueCars from me the admin!

The 1.8T is one of my favourite engines, they are very solid and make pretty impressive power on stock internals so I hope you find a good project car out there.

Thanks for joining, great to have you along.

Sorry for my slow reply, it's been crazy busy here coping with lockdown and looking after the family. Hope you are doing ok.

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome. I have read the article on this site about the 1.8T and seems to be a good starting point for some modest tuning. I have never done anything like this before, other than having the engine in my RX8 ported when it was rebuilt. But that was done by a specialist. I am looking for something I can do most of the mechanical work on my self. which is why I will most likely leave the Touareg alone, as much as I would love to tweak it, I can't afford to break it in the process as its the daily driver. might look at a nice exhaust to release a bit more of the V6 sound. It's to quiet for my liking.

Love the TT's as the body shape is evolving much like 911's so they will always be recognized no matter the year it's built.
