Hi all,

I've been a car fanatic since the 1960's!

Currently I have my first ever Peugeot (307 Hdi 90hp manual), a Mitsubishi Pajero 3.2 DiD, a Datsun 2000 SR311 roadster, a Westfield SE Narrow body 4AGE20V BT, a Sunbeam Tiger and a few motorbikes (M900, TE510 and a VFR250).

I'm thinking about buying an old Mercedes S124(Estate) M104 2.8 Auto. Body is good, Interior shabby but should clean up. Front brake rotors need replacing, Back passenger window non operational (but car comes with a replacement window motor) and ABS brake light now on.

I'm a backyard mechanic who loves motorsport, I race my Westfield and Sunbeam Tiger (fitted with a roller cam 302W).

Should I buy this Merc or run the other way? I believe it's had the engine wiring loom replaced.

What do you reckon? It has a towbar fitted but no trailer wiring plug. Are these cars difficult to wire a plug into....like a CANBUS car like my Peugeot?

The M104 is a good solid project. I'd say go with it, strip it out and add a few upgrades.

I bought the S124. E280. I love it. ABS light on due to blown fuse in OVP relay. Fixed the back power window. It sailed through its Registration inspection. Need to get Sunroof and AC working and I'll be happy. It's cleaned up nicely. It's going to be a great tow car for my Westfield. Thanks for ther prompt to buy it. I'm quite impressed with all the bits and systems I've worked on so far. It's a smooth ride!!
