Hi. I live in United Kingdom at the moment but i come from Latvia. I own Hyundai Coupe SE 2005 2.0L. So i ordered an air filter induction kit not a cheap one and not high end. The brand calls JETEX. But the thing is i was researching and after reading about air filters in this forum i start thinking maybe it wasnt such an good idea because i am afraid about loosing power and getting much warmer engine than with standard panel filter. The air filter which i ordered will not be by the side an engine but at the left front corner and it doesnt come withe the heat shield which would not make any difference anyway. All i want is better air suction and better sound because it has a very basic sound. What do you think guys was this an good ide or i will be waisting my £70 ? /sorry for my english/

The manufacturers know a thing or 2 about getting power out of an engine and IMO any aftermarket filter / induction kit that draws in air from a hot engine bay is a step backwards.\B

100% agree there..cone filters exposed within the engine bay are surely going to suck warm air into the intake manifold which is detrimental..I put a K&N panel filter in my stock air filter box and just opened the intake tube up where it’s sits at the bottom of my front bumper..

I also got engine light now which wasn’t there before with original panel filter. The thing is this car has weird air intake tube which goes down under the bumper and back up next to the battery. So it still sucks warm air.

Do you have a code reader? They are very cheap and as long your car is OBD2 (most are, except mine, damnable JDM rubbish ) you find out why you have a check engine light. But I would guess it is a result of the intake change.

Yes it is because of the intake change. Because i was shortly in a car service when they change air mass flow and took of this engine light. 100% because of the filter change. And yes i have a code reader OBD
