This got me thinking, how many of us on here confess to hoarding said manuals when we probably know we will never own another car the manual covers?

I'll confess to owning several and for some really stupid reason I keep them! Maybe one day I'll have a clearout.

I have bought loads of them in the past, but when the car goes the manual goes with it. I'm nice like that

I say keep them! I have four on the shelf and more so now; being a TC member, if a question arises from another member about a particular model, then maybe I can help them! :)

I'd keep them personally.

I like to buy the Haynes for every car when I buy them and then I read them a lot, even now I still read bits of my Probe manual even after owning Probes for over 4 years now.

As said, can also come in handy for other members if they need help too.

I have around 20, ranging from Mini to Triumph to Worsley to Sierra to Escort etc. Over the years they have been useful so I will keep them.

Haynes don't do one for the Elan so I bought the genuine workshop manual. I recently copied the pages still relevent to my car - 8!

I have never bought a Haynes manual. All the information you need for any job can be found online.

All well and good for today's owners but not going back several years before PCs were common use. I have them dating back to the Mini, Hunter, Firenza, Cortina. Like some have said a useful tool to help others when stuck.

I have never owned one :(

Everything I have done to my cars has been basic (bearings, hubs, roll links, oil, sparks, filters, lights) its all the stuff you would do, swear a lot, and end up with extra bolts when your finished, its kind of like getting a free prize when the job is done!

I remember I took my hornet 600 (sorry guy's but its my bike) to bits. Had to drop the engine to repair it, so that ment tank, plastics, exhaust and everything off. When I put it all back together, I ended up with around 15 screws/bolts!!!! Thats my record!!! Still works though!!

Always a worry when there's stuff leftover! These manuals are good for referencing to and for data. Not all steps are covered as well as they should and often leave out critical things that help in a certain sequence to avoid damage or making hard work for yourself. Then again not all cars have manuals so you have to chop and change other manuals to obtain the information.

I had 60+ manuals at one point, then decided i couldnt be arsed collecting them all, so gave them all to a charity shop except for the old VW ones, which are the only ones im ever likely to need for wiring diagrams
