hello all,

i have just brought a 2007 2.0 gti, i have been looking at re-maping the car, i have had this done to cars in the past and love it, but iv found a comany that can take the car from 197 bhp to 265 bhp, is this safe for the car this amount of power, or is it gunna make it undrivable on wet roads or round courners.

its a dsg gear box if this makes any diffrence :)
also does anyone no of some good brakes dishs and pad up grades for a gti??

thanks
tom

i would firstly tell you well done on buying a great car. then i will tell you to go and purchase a rifle and ask the men at that company to stand by their claims of +68BHP with just a re-map by swearing on their lives...literally haha.

no in all serousness, they are being dishonest imo.

you would really be looking at a maximum of a 10-15% gain.

hope this helps mate lol

one i already have a rifle so i mite go do that lol, and two i thought it was a big increase as most other companys are quoting extra 35 bhp.
the origanal quote is froma company called celtic tuning and this is part of the email they sent me:

"The 2.0 TFSi engines we can take from 197bhp up to 265bhp and from 207lbft torque up to 281lbft torque giving a very impressive performance gain and all within safe design tolerance of the engine and drive train components"

thanks
tom

Celtic are normally conservative or at the very least accurate in their claims. The 2.0 Turbo and 1.8 Turbo VAG engines do make exceptional power on remaps as they are over engineered and will stand a fair bit of extra power reliably.

I'd expect 10-15% on a NASP engine from a remap, with a turbo you can look at upto 30-40% more power in many cases.

as said above, the VAG turbo lumps can and will see a large increase in power from a remap.
celtic wouldnt be advertising this publically if this wasnt the case, as they know golf enthusiasts can and do, check out their claims on a rolling road.

go for it

Custom code show around 240-250
and revo technik show 250

the only thing is celtic do show slightly higher gains than most other companies but read around the same when on a RR

cant be bothered trying to load it up again but i think its similar to the bhp. revo are more likely to be slightly higher as their maps are more aggressive in the bottom end

its ALL about the torque in my book.
and not necessarily the case that they run out of puff quicker, a well suited custom remap can bring in strong torque from the off, peak torque from 3k and sustain it all the way to the redline. all depends on who does it, and what you tell them you want.

yep... but revo are expensive for a reason. they specialise in Vag cars, and imho get the best out of them. never heard a bad report about revo, mate just had his mk4 gttdi done and was very happy with the results.

hello guys thanks for all your help, i have had the remap done by celtic tuning, they were realy good to deal with and the remap its self is fantastic,

Petrol : 2.0 TFSI 197 bhp 207 lbft this was the standard output

265 bhp 281 lbft
this was the final output after the remap

would highly recomend them to anyone :)

if you like torque then get a new 2.0 tdi pd 170 and get the remapped, lol thats just mental!
