I am desirous of fitting a 4-2-1 extractor for the 407 because I enjoy low end torque and have even seen such items sold over the internet. However, I was told by the Peugeot service centre mechanic that whilst it is possible to fit that extractor, the electronic malfunction idiot light will then go haywire and constantly blink as if there was some electronic malfunction because this car's electronic is so sensitive i.e. being tuned for the original out-manifold. To what extent is this true? :blink1:

From what I can understand, you want to replace the exhaust manifold to a 4-2-1 manifold to improve lower end torque?

Whats the point if your not going to change the rest of the exhaust system? Get a custom one made with a high flow cat and then get a remap to make use of the modifications.

Yes to question 1 but to question 2, who said I don't intent to change the rest of the exhaust system? I definitely will. I was just being specific. Still my question was not answered which is not really the answer I sought.

is there any sensors in the OEM manifold? if so are the ports there in the aftermarket one.
other than that i cant see why as it not like theres going to be a massive difference in airflow and the electronics have to hve leeway due to every engine being different

And I gave a specific answer to your 4-2-1 manifold question. :) Okay, so your changing the whole system. You'll need to find out wether or not, As PG mentioned, any sensors in the exhaust and either get a higher flowing system or blank them off, which should require a remap. Is the 407 a diesel or petrol?

The Peugeot service centre mechanic said there is but how many I did not ask. As for the 4-2-1 extractor, it has to be customized as this particular model is not available locally but I know the exhaust specialist who can do it.

The 407 is a petrol version. I've been reading other sections of TorqueCars and will adopt the 4-2-1 extractor mod first followed by a remap later though the whole exercise will not be so soon as I have to first acquire the 407 from the Mrs. so wish me well :toung: :embarrest:

The only true enemy to a car tuner/ enthusiast... There other half!

If I was were you, I'd speak to the guy who can make you that manifold and see what he suggests.
