Hi guys,

Good to be here, just joined up today.

I've recently bought a Honda Civic EP2 SE. Apparently the SE doesn't exist according to most reg lookups on parts sites but it's the 1.6L 4 door hatchback.

I've also just started an HGV mechanic apprenticeship so looking forward to putting any new knowledge I gain to practice when modding the civic and upgrading it.

I've already done the suspension, dropped it about 30mm and fitted with eibach racing springs and shocks.

Just ordered some Tegiwa shifter bushes and a mugen steering wheel so looking forward to getting those on the car soon too!

I'd also like to look at increasing overall engine power/performance without breaking the bank, once I've done my brakes. I have no idea what I'm doing with regards to power, so if anyone has a wealth of knowledge, I'm all ears!

I think I read on here somewhere that you can push the 1.6 up to about 160BHP. With mine currently sitting at about 90, I'm curious as to how you might do that without forced induction? (I think the article said you can achieve 160 without a turbo or supercharger but not sure).

I'm also happy to share any experiences I have with this, as it will be a project track day car. I'll keep my eyes peeled on the forums and offer any knowledge I gain as i go along.

If you've made it this far, thanks for reading my essay of an intro. Hope you're all doing well and look forward to speaking with everyone about your projects!

Cheers,

Mitch

Hello and a very warm, welcome to TorqueCars from me the admin!

I'm sure you'll fit in just fine and look forward to Talking Cars with you.

100bhp per 1000cc is an upper limit on the petrol VTEC engines but the Honda engines are pretty good, a fast road camshaft or getting the VTEC to kick in earlier (Hondata seems to be the way to go for ECU tuning.)

The engine will need to be balanced and blueprinted and some head and porting work. Forced induction is probably cheaper and easier if that is your power target.

I like the sound of this project, we love diversity and respect ALL car projects.
