finally a new Fiesta RS Turbo owner :)

right everyone after the sale of the previous car fell through (less said the better) :wall:
i had a great bit of luck and dropped on this motor from a cracking guy from up cumbria :god:
its totally different spec wise to the white one i was going to get and i actually prefer that if im honest as its a lovely base to make a great car from and not ruin the oe looks/charm of it too much. :top:

its a 1990 car in red
totally standard engine wise apart from a receipt for some form of hybrid turbo
stainless system
lowered suspension
had a resto a few years ago and is in great shape nice and solid in all the usual areas.
also had an engine rebuild a few years ago

the car has not been on the road since 2014 but the current owner took the car for a pre mot on monday and it failed on the following

emissions too high
handbrake cable needs adjusting
spare wheel needs a tyre
one headlight not working
reverse light switch intermittent

and that was it so the plan is to give the car a real good full service including the following

oil and filter
ht leads and denso ik27 plugs
fuel filter
uprated frst fuel pump
coolant change
drive belt
cam belt and water pump kit
new set of wipers all round
new set of bulbs all round

the owner also informs me that the turbo will need a rebuild which is not a problem as it will go to my mate wilky for the said work and possibly a bit more of his magic work.

i also have my other mate who is a professional detailer booked in for the end of march to give the car a full paint correction detail and interior valet etc etc so the car will look spot on once done.

the plans are then to refit rebuilt turbo and then get the car an m.o.t. once this is done ill be calling msd for one of there set up sessions and if all well followed by there stage 3 conversion on the same day :)

looks wise with the car i dont really want to change anything apart from i think its crying out for the period 4" tailpipe on there :DD:

anyway enough babbling from me for now here are a few pics for you all

Marvellous news Andy, I know what you mean by
I swear the car is more upbeat after we come out of the valeters! Note to self, get a check up from the neck up T9

Look forward to the next exciting episode |B

haha funnily enough my lady asked if i wanted booking in see a doctor :)

Seems to me that the drive has lifted Andy's spirits;)

it certainly has mate and fingers crossed its getting another outing on Sunday along with my mates 3 door cosworth

I have always been a fan of such antiques and they make us understand how such points always had the information for us to take care of all this.
These rides have made a mark in their era which is incredible.

morning everyone not much of an update but i have finally taken the big step and set up my own painting and decorating business, iv toyed with the idea for the last 3 years and now just seems the right time.
i will be operating throughout north staffordshire and south cheshire so if any of you would like to check out what i do/get in touch then please follow this link

https://www.facebook.com/ambdec/

as a side note i had to use my car yesterday and ill be using it today as i dont get my van until thursday afternoon ( getting an 02 plate escort 1.8td van :) )
dont worry about any paint going in the car i already dropped it off to the job im doing on monday in the wifes seat leon.

as said above iv used the car again today to go back on the same job, its only about 5-7 mins away from my house but bloody loving being able to use the car after so many set backs etc

and here she is being tucked away for the night and who knows i might even use her again tomorrow ;)

Nice to have a garage big enough to have space to use around the car! Ours is so small you can hardly open a door and get out of the thing!

hi everyone not had anything much to update on over the last couple of months, been very busy building my new business thats going very well and started this year really good :)

anyway back to the car we are finally fitting the new roose motorsport ancillary hoses today and iv also got a new genuine expansion cap to go on.

we are moving house next week so ill be heading to the new place in the car either fri or sat so it will get a few cobwebs shaken off :)

hopefully over the next couple of months we will start the more interesting updates :)

so yesterday i managed to finish my job by midday so decided to get a few jobs done on the car.

firstly when fitting the roose ancillary hoses last weekend we noticed the y piece connecting the 2 rear heater hoses was split and eventually just crumbled away so this was what was causing the leak the whole time.
A good member of the fiesta rst owners group on facebook sent me a genuine one free of charge and wouldnt even let me pay for postage (top fella)

It arrived at 2pm yesterday so i was straight out got it fitted onto the car and then re connected the new hoses tightened up etc then topped up the coolant.
Did the usual things ran upto temp etc etc the whole time checking for any leaks and hey presto no leaks anymore :)

I then decided to take the car for a very short shakedown which ended up being even shorter due to braking down.
luckily i could get the car mostly off the road and had a good dig around, which i fount it to be this connector seems to have lost most of its retaining clip so was working loose enough to make the car lose all power.

I managed to push it back together enough to nurse the car home very slowly, now im in the middle of moving home so 99% of my stuff is at the new place so id got no cable ties etc here.

had a dig around to see what id got just to temp fix it until i go the new home today and here is the result haha

yes that will be a bit of a toothpick which has worked a treat and of course will be removed as soon as i collect my cable ties later on :)

hi everyone the house move is finally all completed and i moved the fiesta across to the new place on tuesday.

good thing to report that the ancillary hoses and new expansion cap have worked a treat, the downside is now its flagged up another problem from one of the coolant hoses which is really leaking badly.

now this must of been a bit of forward thinking on my part as i actually ordered the 2 coolant hoses that roose motorsport make on the weekend we fitted the ancillary hoses :) so fingers crossed they will be here within next couple of weeks and i can get on with fitting them.

Another piece to the puzzle bought today for my Fiesta RS Turbo, brand new Pro Alloy double capacity intercooler at half the price :) all ready for the power increase in a couple of months.
im going to paint the intercooler satin black to keep the oe+ theme going :)
Already have beige injectors here and will be purchasing an airtec stage 2 radiator very soon along with an uprated fuel pump.
im as yet undecided on going for a stage 3 set up at MSD on the ofab ecu or purchase a boostmonkeys ofam ecu and get it mapped locally.

So i managed to get finished on my job today for 2.30. Decided to take advantage and give the car its 1st bath at new home ready for this saturdays mini detailing session courtesy of r&k detailing.

it should look better than ever when done again and im defo looking forward to the interior being deep cleaned.

really need to get that scorpion rear box on asap

Great update, and the car is looking amazing. You would think it was knew looking at the condition of it. I love to see a well cared for car.

I had my mate Ryan from R&K Detailing over on saturday to give the interior a good deep clean as it was crying out to be done, and also to give the paintwork a quick going over ready for hopefully alot of use this year.

these are the only pics iv got upto yet but im sure you can see just how good the results are :)

WOW! Look at the shine on that :) You should have put a disclaimer at the top Andy as people will need their sunglasses first before looking

haha it does shine a tad doesnt it.

Awesome finish. Like new!

I had my car washed today as you've totally put me to shame!

haha :)

id say its about as good as it gets without going for a full respray so im very happy with it.

Finally an update that iv been so waiting for

been speaking to stu at motorsport developments in blackpool and we have got the car booked in for Friday April 7th for one of there stage 3 set ups :)

really cant wait for this as we can then finally get out and have alot of adventures in the car as a family.

That's the RS Turbo insured for another year, gone with Heritage Classic Car Insurance after being told about them by my good mate Karl .
Current company Footman James wanted £215 for the year just for me on the policy which was a £38 increase from last year.
I wanted to get my wife insured on it this time and Heritage have done it us all in for £161.08 with an agreed value of £6000 :) Really impressed with there service and personal touch they bring with it.

happy days now lets get out there boosting this year (8}):}>:D

A big difference in saving there Andy, But, as I always say, you never know how good an insurance company is until something goes wrong. Just in case, I shall see what I can do about getting you a force field for the car, must be one from Acme on eBay somewhere

Well there has been a slight change of plan

whilst fitting the new coolant hoses i noticed the oe radiator really looked worse for wear then on refilling with coolant etc and running upto temp the leaks were fixed from ancillary and coolant hoses :) only problem is that radiator was leaking quite bad from 2 different areas :(

So iv had to shelve the idea of going to MSD in April and instead will be buying an Airtec radiator then fit that and the new Pro Alloy intercooler and get the fuelling set up at MAS Tuning in Crewe.
So then we will just run the car at this state of tune for the year then any niggling problems can be sorted out as we go along before looking at upping the power next year.

I actually think this is a good idea due to the car hardly being used this last 3-4 years so we can get some much needed miles on her to see how it goes.

Finally took the plunge and purchased an Airtec stage 2 radiator to replace the worn out oe radiator.

i then also decided to purchase the Airtec stage 1 front mount intercooler kit as it doesnt require any cutting to the front bumper and should work a bit better than the pro alloy cooler i have.

fingers crossed we will get these fitted before the end of the month along with uprated fuel pump and get it up to MAS Tuning for a set up.

What are you like Andy? Are you sure you don't have a woman's spending gene lurking inside you?

Ruddy marvellous stuff sir, what fuel pump are you thinking of going with by the way...

well as you can see im up at daft o clock again.

anyway thought i would share my latest investment for the car with you all :)

decided to purchase the newman cam kit as i thought it would be a good idea to replace what as far as i can see is the original 27 year old camshaft etc.

not sure if these offer any power increase but i beleive they are the best cam kit for the cvh turbo.

received some more goodies courtesy of msd :)

as you can see uprated fuel pump, low temp thermostat and uprated cooling fan switch.

iv also purchased a fuel pump rewire loom as the oe one is obviously a bit tired/worn and also a fan loom rewire as its currently on manual switch and a real mess wiring wise.

yesterday afternoon was quite a productive one on the fiesta :) had my good mate karl come around to help out with a few things.

ill let the pics do the talking

As you can see the airtec stage 2 radiator and stage 1 fmic is all fitted up, fmic has been removed again so we can tidy up and paint the cut edges on lower panel.

Also new uprated fan loom is in and is a very worthwhile upgrade imo. low temp thermostat has been fitted but gotta wait on a housing gasket before refitting to the engine.
uprated cvh fan switch will be fitted today :)

so some progress is being made, hopefully next weekend finish off the tail ends with these jobs then look at getting the new fuel pump and loom fitted
