The June edition of Practial Performance Car was interesting. They put an electric supercharger on a car and then ran it on the dyno.

With the Supercharger the car made 111bhp - without it the power went up to 120bhp!

I didn't think it would sap power but I didn't expect it to give any more.

its a restriction on the airflow so would have some effect, grant didnt think it would be as much as that

Oh, does this mean I should take my hair dryer out from under the bonnet then

O yes, just install a couple of sets of 12v hair straighteners; a foot spa (cheap at Argos) and cuddly toy will all work wonders.

Nice to see ya, nice to see ya ......................

No real suprises here, I shudder to think how many electric superchargers have actually been sold!

I have being buying PPC since the beginning and am currently starting to think it is as much as a waste of money as the electric supercharger, pick up a copy from 3 years ago and compare it to a late issue, a huge difference, shame but I guess they have covered it all,,,,,,,what ever happened to the saab powered escort? and the up coming article on insuring multiple vehicles at once (a year ago...still waiting)...rant over and i'll still buy it next month and so on

I've just switched to redline PPC used to be really good but the tech articles were getting too short and novice oriented and as you say the mental/interesting projects are not around anymore.
