Electric Parking Brake Queries

I have wondered what will happen in the event of failure of the hydraulic brakes how a push button parking brake would operate ? lock the rears (or fronts if connected ) as that can be dangerous if they are either full on or off as they are not able to be pressure modulated by the driver.

The foot PB are also troubling in that scenario as well.

When the electronic parking brake fails it completely locks the rear wheels.

I had a failure in my old Astra. Twice. It's why I sent it back

There is a box buried in the rear bumper which you can use to release the mechanism manually.
