need some software tht i can use to remap my ecu on 2004 civic 1.6ivtec sport. what software can i use to analyse the current setup and tweak the settings on the ecu.do i need a new chip or is the factory chip reprogrammable?thanks

Well, I'm not a tuner, but one thing I would say is DO NOT TOUCH IT by yourself, unless you doing this for living and have a big experience in remapping, but if you would have it all then software shouldn't be a problem ;)
I hope you get what I'm saying :)
Leave it to professionals, people who do this for living and they know what your car can and have all the tools to make it work for your needs.
You can have a official/legal performance remap or if you sign a bit of paper they will do the max power increase which will stress your engine.

You dont want to harm your engine, do you???
This guy done my remap
www.jfautomotive.co.uk

But wait for pro members to tell you more about it.

;)

hello mate 265quid is quite a lot just for a remap, thts kinda why i wana do it myslf.I can always programme it back to the orignal factory settings right?

Well, but it is worth money spend, you will see the difference straight away and have a full guarantee that is done professionally.
But, yes, what they do is taking the file from ecu, then they comparing with the one from the same car but when they had it on they ramp, so they know exactly what car can do and how to improve your car within safety limits.

So yes, if you get the software and cable, as soon you get the file from your ecu, just make the copy and work on it, keep the original one somewhere safe.
You dont actually take the file from the ecu, you just reading it and then replacing with the new one, but if something goes wrong you can put back the original one, BUT if you mess up, it may cost you much MORE than 265quid ;)

nah should be alright mate,i mean all i want to do is see the settings that are on my original ecu, write these down and just tweak it a bit.i wont do it too much.i dnt think theres any real way the ecu can messup right or can messup the engine, just if the settings tht i tweak place too much strain on the engine.what was the car you had remapped and what sorta differnce did u notice?also do you know any software that can read and tweak this ecu?

Be very very very careful if you start playing with the ECU.
If you go out of the parameters then you CAN harm not only the ecu but you can also cause damage to the engine.
If you don't know what you are fully doing then I suggest you take it to a specialist.

id normally say go for it but there is a reason why the maps cost so much, its all the time and development that the tuners spend to get it spot on.

also not sure if your engine can be remapped, im sure the type R engine cant be

yeh get what your saying mate, thats why the type rs have the kpro chips right?theres no point me spending 250 o a remap for this car.il just wait till i get a type r then

Just type 'ecu remap' on ebay (which I would not recommend for that), starts from 9.99 (dont forget you will need to buy a cable as well) or google and you will get lots of software for sale together with files and diagnostic tools
BUT, again, I wouldn't touch my self, I do prefer doing stuff my self, always, so I know where you are coming from, but in some matters I would just pay cash to professionals and not messing my self, to big risk with this sort of stuff...

Is there not a tuner box available for the Hondas?

We have the RS Tuner for the Clios, means you can map the car yourself. However these are just generic maps.

You might be better off getting it custom mapped once you have done all the modifications you plan to do?

£265 is more than reasonable for a proper remap

Playing with it even if you have the right software is likely to be a waste of time

If the car is standard then there are some easy mods to do first.

Remember.............There is no such thing as safe extra power for a few quid

nothing comes cheap when it comes to power. all these gidgets and gazmos that claim to increase power for little cost are pretty much just a con... nothing more nothing less.

i've seen all sorts. a resistor that gets wired into the maf sensor
"amplifiers" you can put in line with your HT leads. they all do nothing but put an necessary dent in your wallet.
