Good news! Bought an M62 SC yesterday which I will be paying for on Friday. Hopefully get it by the end of next week and start fabricating new adaptor plates and inlet/outlet piping. Looking at it now, most of the current plumbing will be staying which will save a heap of time

Hi. Sorry, been working away getting it all together.

Yes, I managed to get it about 2 weeks ago and spent some of my off time fitting it up.

It works so much better than the last one. I still need to finalize the spring rates in the Bypass Valve and I may need to fit an additional tensioner as the boost level is not as high as I though it would be with a pulley ration of around 2.1:1, an online calculator estimated that should be making around 13psi at 7100rpm but take that with a pinch of salt.

Will try and get some pics for later.

Great job, and well done. Fine tuning is always the troublesome part. Keep us all in the loop, and look forward to seeing some photos.

Here are some photos of the M62 supercharger on my engine. Luckily, it fit more or less into the same area as the previous one.

Currently the setup is like this;

Holding at around 3 psi of boost which is less than I thought but at least it's something
Pulley ratio is 2.1:1
Diverter valve in place of Blow off Valve. BPV using the weakest spring available so as not to damage the charger
Homemade tensioner fitted

Hi, wow its a snug fit in there isn't it. Well done. With regard to the 3psi boost, what were you hoping for?

For anything much higher on a stock motor you could be running the gauntlet, you realise this?

As previously mentioned, I'm not a BMW person, so I'm not sure what these motors will take in terms of stress.

But when you begin to push towards 1 bar (14.7psi) plus you need to look at intercooling, water injection, detonation issues, ignition and cam timing etc, not to mention having to consider piston destruction, so lowering compression is essential, stronger pistons and rods, and so on.

To increase the charger output and increase boost you will need to spin the charger to a higher speed, as a quick example, say you want 9 psi boost, with a 2.8" diameter charger pulley, you would need somewhere in the region of a 9" crank pulley. But then you would need to be aware of the chargers rotor speed at the engines maximum RPM, given that the M62 is only capable of a sustained RPM of 14000.

If you can't make the boost you need or desire within these perameters you will need a bigger charger or a different type of charger, perhaps a whipple who specialise in high performance chargers, but you'll be spending super big bucks.

Once again, for accurate numbers and information, it's back to doing the maths buddy. It's the only sure fire way to get "exactly" what you are looking for.

Keep us in the loop, good luck.
