so, what is the platform that the european escort is built on? i ask simply because i want to know if i can spend large sums of money and ship parts over.... the mk5 is what i'm asking about.

Are you building a Cosworth? The Escort MkV platform (and Mark III Orion saloon) arrived in September 1990 with an all-new bodyshell and a simplified torsion beam rear suspension (instead of the Mark III's fully independent layout). But if its the cosworth car you are looking at, then the model released over there should be identical (unless the ones i've seen over there are imports) and of course aslong as it's not like the focus which is different in the States a they seem to have a shorter 3 door version.
 
not looking so much to build a cosworth as i'm looking to get some trim and suspension parts if possible... pickings here are very slim.
 
just judging from the escort i saw in the film 8 mile. over here in europe we never had a escort that looked like that so there is a chance they are 2 completely different cars but share the same name
