hi I have an Opel Astra G with a single exit exhaust .
Can I change it to a duel exit exhaust??
will it affect my engines performance?
If I do this do I use a centre dual out muffler ?????

You most likely can if there is space BUT you will be spending money for no power increase UNLESS the new system is smoother flowing to allow for a small power improvment.

thats hardly relevant . the question was does he need or will benefit from a twin exhaust on a small 4 cylinder engine that isnt tuned . The answer is no

i have 12 cylinders all exit from one outlet 5" in. diameter.

Well Ron, I can honestly say that I have never ever seen an XJS with a side mounted exhaust, I assume it is custom :)

This is the last XJS I worked on back in the day when I used to get my hands dirty while on a break from University - Don't laugh!

my exhaust was done for the sound, deep and mellow , most important is you hear all 12 cylinders at once!

with multi outlet exhaust 1st one side ear hears it then the other ear hears it, mixes up the brain!

I always found it wildly optimistic of Jaguar to use the moniker HE on the back of some models. It stands for High Efficiency. In a 5.3 litre V12??

It's a bit like the 2.25 litre box of Cabernet Sauvignon I bought yesterday marked Best Before: Dec 2016 :D :D

HE was relative.............. compared to 9 mpg 12 really is high efficincey . I owned both V12s and the HE really was much better.

i am in the process of remapping my car...skoda tsi 1.8 petrol. the garage has also asked me to fix a new free flow exhaust. i was also thinking of a twin outlet tail pipe. i was advised against it

It's not so much the exhaust as the size of the downpipe as this will help to keep the temps down.

thank you. i will remember to mention this to the garage. i have opted for a brand called miltek from uk. the upgrade is from existing 160 bhp to around 210 bhp. this is just to get rid of a bit of the lag in traffic daily driving and also enjoy it on touring. the torque also is improved and will hopefully kick in at lower rpm's

Milltek are renowned both here in the UK and Europe. I was told by a technician at Viezu a few years ago now when I had my car remapped for a 2nd time, that the size of the exhaust downpipe was holding the car back with regards to the performance upgrade and that the temperatures being produced on the downpipe were too high to allow a further increase in power to be possible safely. On his recommendation I went to a custom specialist who make exhaust systems for F1 and the BTCC and I have never looked back.
