Re: Anti-lag systems - recommendations?

Ditto. We were reminiscing last night about our youth. Back then (1970-80) the roads were relatively empty, there were no cameras so all we had to deal with were speed guns. Police sat on mounds at the side of motorways so were visible. There were unmarked cars but you soon learnt how to recognise them. There wern't so many of us 'boy racers' so it was easier to have the quickest car in the local area and you knew the opposition.

and most of the local police drove round in panda cars which had less horsepower than a fiat 500

Things will never be the same

We should start a thread driving in 70/80s

A while back I tried to explain some old expeeriences to some "current nutters" They didnt beleive me

I didn't really start driving till the 90's but I do remember walking to school and the main roads were pretty empty of parked cars, now on the same roads they are double parked all the way along the road now.

Even in the early 90's things were better than they are now. We are getting major jams and delays in our town which is relatively quiet! I know that this never used to happen.

Passed my test in 1987, there were a lot less cars on the roads back then that's for sure, and not many cars had ABS let alone anything more sophisticated. Back then I remember cars that had decals on to boast about things like ABS, or synchromesh, or even 5 forward gears.

I started driving the year wearing seatbelts became compulsary. Alot has changed since the early 80s for me, volume of traffic being the main thing. Roads were less cluttered and we didn't seem to tear around like we do today, maybe it's to do with cars being a status symbol more so today then they were 30 odd years ago. Chavs back then didn't exist when it came to cars nippers used as a benchmark, perhaps the mk1 Escort being the roll model for most with forest arches etc and the good old Mini but they were ten a penny back then, even Coopers!
