OK, I now have a nice new drill but lots of blunt bits.

Anyone had experience of dril bit sharpeners or can recommend one?

My uncle is a dab hand at sharpening bits on a bench grinder. Tried it myself and ended up with a load of bits 2" long that wouldn't drill a hole in balsa wood lol.

They would if you used a hammer :)

That is exactly why I need a sharpening machine.

When I was young (yes, I was young once) I had little money and lived with my parents. I now have the space and a little more money. Having the right machines allows me to make things that I would otherwise have to pay to have made, so the machines soon pay for themselves.

Most machines can be picked up in a good second hand condition for not a lot of cash. The problem most people have is not having the space to put them.

That is the sharpener I have been looking at :)

If only I had a circular sander. Hmmmmmmmm :)

Have another look on eBay OG, now once upon a time I remember seeing a gadget that was on Machine Mart that clamped to a drill so that you could use the drill as a fixed sander while it was being held in a vice.

If I decide to get one it will be standalone and bigger than the drill type.

Yes I can see how that would be better, you will have loads to choose from after I Google searched some likely candidates.
